Buhari at different fora had not hidden his determination to pick his own cabinet members without being influenced by anyone.

The president had sent 21-man list to the Senate president, Bukola Saraki few hours to the deadline he set for the release of the list.

These two former governors according to sources are not in the ‘good book’ of Tinubu as their names were not among those sent to Buhari.

On the part of the Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, he had been lobbying for the emergence of Femi Falana as the attorney general from Ekiti state but Buhari did not agree to this as he had already picked Fayemi.

Also, Osinbajo’s second nominee, Prof. Pat Utomi was not picked as Buhari went for Utomi’s kinsman, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu who had been penned down as minister of state for petroleum.

According to New Telegraph, another source noted that Tinubu had relocated to Abuja when Buhari came to power in May 29 but was said to have hurriedly returned to Lagos on October 1 after it became clear that the president had jettison his list.

He said: “Asiwaju was disappointed with the ministerial list as none of his nominees made the Buhari’s cabinet. He felt used and dumped.”

“Tinubu just took the list and called Chief Akande into an inner room in his Abuja residence,” the source discloses.

Akande was said to have immediately sought for an audience with the president. Buhari reportedly told Akande that since Tinubu produced the vice president, he should allow other bloc in the South-West to have share of the appointments.

On why he dropped Falana for Fayemi, Buhari noted that since the former Ekiti state governor lost his re-election bid, he has served in many capacities unlike Falana.

The president reminded Akande that Fayemi was the chairman of the APC national convention in Lagos where he emerged as the party candidate and was the director, directorate of policy and strategy of the presidential campaign council.

On the choice of Fashola, the former governor was said to have worked as chairman of the presidential fundraising committee unlike Yemi Cardoso, which was proposed by Tinubu for the Lagos state slot.

Meanwhile, Saraki had unveiled the list of ministerial nominees during Tuesday, October 6 plenary.

Those that make the list are governors, Babatunde Fashola, former Rivers state governor Rotimi Amaechi, former Ekiti state governor Kayode Fayemi, former Anambra state governor Chris Ngige, APC National publicity secretary Lai Mohammed.
