Community Leaders Killed While On Peace Mission

Two community leaders were on Sunday, September 9, found dead on the outskirts of Namnai village in Gassol local government area of Taraba.

NAN reports that the deceased were the village heads of Namnai; Malam Musa Kachalla, and his ward head, Malam Manu Jahun.

The chairman of the council, Tukura Bashir, who confirmed the incident, said that the leaders were on their way to settle a farmland dispute between herdsmen and farmers in the area.

CP Orders Ritualists To Be Shot On Sight

Ogun state Commissioner of Police, Abdulmajid Ali, yesterday, August 6, ordered ritualists to be shot on sight.

According to IReporter Online, he gave the order due to rise in cases of ritual killings in the state, while parading 23 suspected cultists, kidnappers, armed robbers and ritualists at the command headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta.

Woman Found With Kidnapped Children

Operatives of the Owerri state police department have arrested a woman, Chioma Anoruo, for allegedly selling more than 19 children to clients.

Chioma, who lived at Okporo in Orlu town was said to have been in the business of child trafficking with her husband before she was apprehended by the community’s local vigilante group.

PM News reports that the vigilante group arrested Chioma and handed her over to the police but her husband escaped. Five children were rescued while a large amount of money was recovered from Chioma.

As fresh facts begin to emerge about the Ikorodu banks robbery operation where N80 million was reportedly carted away a fortnight ago, one of the suspects has revealed that they planned the operation at a meeting that lasted 30 minutes.

It was also discovered that 12 members of the gang were recruited from the Niger Delta region.

Governor Of Cross River Wages War On Kidnappers

Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River has chosen to go tough on kidnappers by stipulating  capital punishment for convicted kidnappers in the state.
The governor on Wednesday, July 1, sent an executive bill to the House of Assembly stipulating a death penalty for those convicted of kidnapping for consideration and passage, Premium Times report.

The Lagos state government has asked Lagosians not to panic over the bank robbery incident which happened in Ikorodu on Wednesday, June 25 and has revealed why the robbers went away with the atrocity.
The incident in which three persons were left injured and millions of naira carted away, was reportedly masterminded by a gang of robbers led by a young lady in Ebute Ipakodo area of the division.

5 Political Thugs With Arms, Indian Hemp Arrested In Rivers

Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, the governor of Rivers state, has praised the State Joint Security Task force for the arrest of about five people with arms at the ‘Barracks’, behind Wimpey in Rumueme area of Port Harcourt.

The people were with three AK-47 riffles, ammunitions and assorted Indian hemp.

It was collected that those detained were supposed to be hired hoodlums while the weapons and ammunition were to be used to unleash violence on voters and innocent residents before or during the gubernatorial poll on Saturday, April 11.

Police arrest suspected kidnapper, free victim in Ogun

Ogun State Police Command has arrested a member of kidnap gang that abducted one Mrs Abosede Adenuga from Lagos State, Monday.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, who disclosed this in Abeokuta yesterday, explained that SARS operatives made the arrest and rescued the victim.

Benue massacre: Bloodshed cannot solve any problem – Buhari

Presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress, APC, General Mohammadu Buhari yesterday reacted to the massacre in Benue State, saying blood-shedding was an ill wind that blows no good.

Gunmen Kidnap Cross River Ex- Deputy Speaker

Report just reaching us from Calabar, Cross River State reveals that Gunmen have kidnapped the former deputy Speaker of the state’s House of Assembly.

Hon. Dominic Edem, who is also the Labour Party House of Representatives candidate in the State was said to have been abducted at his residence in Calabar at about 8pm on Sunday night.

The victim’s aide who spoke on condition of anonymity said the gunmen fired several gun shots to scare people before taking him away.

Bash Ali in jail over criminal intimidation

A Wuse Zone 6 Senior Magistrates’ Court, Abuja on Wednesday fixed April 2 for hearing in the criminal case brought against Nigerian boxer, Bash Ali, and four other accused persons.

Meanwhile Bash Ali has refused to leave jail despite meeting bail conditions.

The four others are Gabriel Ikyowe; Timothy Ugbede; Daniel Otoski and Jones Ebele.

They were arraigned by the police on Feb. 19 on a six-count charge of joint act of abetment, criminal trespass, and obstruction in public way.

Police Kill 2 Robbers Who Stole Church Offerings In Edo

Officials of the Edo State police command have gunned down two robbers who stole church offerings at Bishops Court of St James’ Cathedral in Igarra, Akoko-Edo local government area of the state.

Daily Independent gathered that the third suspect who is alleged to be the informant to the robbers has been arrested and he is currently in police custody for further interrogation.

The robbers were reportedly shot dead by the police while trying to escape from interrogation.

Four suspects are currently in the net of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, Lagos State Command, for allegedly engaging in illegal oil bunkering.

It was learnt that the suspects – Jamiu Sittu, Bolaji Isila, Sola Ogunlade and Semiu Bello – were rounded up by the NSCDC men at about 10pm on January 16 around Eyita Sabo in the Ikorodu area

Soldiers rescue 14 pregnant teenagers, 8 children in Abia

►Soldiers from 144 Battalion, Asa, in Ukwa West Local Government Area of Abia State have rescued 14 pregnant teenagers and eight children from a motherless babies’ home at Umunkpeyi Nvosi in Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area.

►Also arrested by the soldiers were six young men, who claimed to be staff of the home, and two girls, aged 16 and 25.

►However, the proprietress of the home, Mrs. Nma Charity, is still at large.
