Jose Mourinho is ready to match January bid having admired Falcao for several minutes inspire Colombia to a 2-0 win over Belgium.

Falcao has not settled at Monaco this season and Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is looking to capitalise by bringing the Columbia striker to Stamford Bridge.

Mourinho and Falcao share the same agent - Jorge Mendes - which will smooth the path for the deal which will cost the the Blues in the region of £60million.

Falcao is not enjoying life in the south of France and is unhappy with the standard of football on offer in Ligue 1.

He is also not keen on the proposed 75 per cent tax rate that the French government would like French clubs to pay on their salaries. Currently Monaco are exempt from French tax law.

However, Falcao earns around £12million-a-year tax free currently, which would means Chelsea would have to pay him close to £450,000-a-week to equal his salary.

Chelsea tracked Falcao over the summer but did not move for the Atletico Madrid striker, instead picking up Cameroon forward Samuel Eto'o.

Mourinho watched his target play against Belgium and was not disappointed, as Falcao scored in a 2-0 win which was also the European side's first defeat in one year.

Chelsea will have competition for the striker though, with Manchester United and Real Madrid also interested in procuring his services.

Real Madrid are also ready to match any January bid, with the Spanish giants having admired Falcao for several years while he was scoring goals for fun with rivals Atletico. Luis Suarez remains their alternative target.

Chelsea have a more pressing need to land a top striker having missed out on Wayne Rooney in the summer.

Falcao would be eligible to play in the Champions League this season, making him even more of an attractive prospect.

United must keep their options open in case Rooney revives his desire to leave Old Trafford next summer, but are unlikely to submit a bid in January.

Falcao only moved to Monaco last summer for a whopping £50m, but it is looking increasingly likely that the LIgue 1 outfit will be able to keep hold of their prized asset.
