The FA will investigate the shameful scenes at Swindon on Saturday when a fan ran onto the pitch and attacked Leyton Orient goalkeeper Jamie Jones.
A 26-year-old man was arrested after appearing to throw three punches at Jones during the second half of Orient's 3-1 victory in the Sky Bet League One match at the County Ground.
Jones, 24, was thankfully unhurt and able to finish the match while the fan is to face a lifetime ban.

Leyton Orient manager Russell Slade wants to see a Swindon supporter banned for life after witnessing him punch goalkeeper Jamie Jones.
Jones was left unhurt from the attack, which happened midway through the second half of Orient's 3-1 win at the County Ground, but Slade wasted no time in venting his fury.
"It was a great win but it was clouded by the fan coming on to the pitch and throwing three punches at my goalkeeper," Slade told BBC London 94.9. "Jamie is okay but it doesn't make it right, it is outrageous. He needs a ban for life and should never go to another football match.
"He had a long time in the six-yard box before the stewards did anything."
Swindon Town chairman Jed McCrory was quick to offer an apology to Jones, confirming the fan will be banned for his despicable actions.
"We will be speaking to the police with reference to their report next week," McCroy told the Swindon Advertiser. "We don't condone any actions where supporters come on to the pitch and, if found guilty, he will receive a ban.
"We apologise to Jamie Jones, the Leyton Orient board members and their supporters and will review the stewarding around the ground to make sure this doesn't happen again.
