As cost spirals towards £40m... and Spurs look to sell flop Lamela back to Italy (for half the price they paid!)
Arsenal are set to challenge Tottenham for Belgium striker Romalu Lukaku. Whether Chelsea would sell to either London rival remains to be seen, but the interest in Lukaku will see his fee spiral towards the £40million mark.

Despite his form on loan at Everton this season Jose Mourinho still seems set to sell the player.
That has meant that middle men have discreetly been eyeing up potential buyers and both Arsenal and Spurs have been ‘sounded out’.
Everton would like to keep hold of Lukaku but there appears little chance of securing another loan deal because, under pressure to fulfil UEFA’s Financial Fair Play regulations, the Blues need to sell before they can buy in new big names like Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa, who they will soon face in the Champions League semi-finals.

The potential sales of Lukaku, David Luiz to Barcelona or Paris Saint-Germain, and Jon Obi Mikel to Inter Milan could be bring in nearly £100million, which would fund summer signings.

In what has now become a very delicate situation Chelsea now seem certain to take back goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois from Atletico in the summer.
