Army Nabs 486 Suspected Insurgents in Abia

Nigerian Army Intercept Convoy Carrying Groups Of Suspected Insurgents
►The Nigerian Army has intercepted 35 buses carrying suspected insurgents to an unknown destination.
►The groups numbering about 486 persons were arrested in the wee hours around 2AM on Sunday morning along Aro-Ngwa in Aba and Imo gate along Enugu-Port-Harcourt expressway.
During the process of interception, two of the buses escaped while the remaining 33 buses and its occupants were quickly taken to the Headquarters, 144 Battalion of the Army, Asa for further interrogation and investigation.

The buses were said to be transporting the groups of suspected insurgent to an unknown destination but luck ran out on them when the Nigerian Army on patrol within the Abia State axis intercepted the convoy whose occupants claimed they were coming from the Northern part of the country and travelling to no particular place.

They were unable to provide relevant answers regarding where they were heading to.

Curiosity and intelligence made the Nigerian Army on duty to pry more on this suspicious movement of group of youths between the ages of 16 and 24, who were embarking on a journey in the night, supposedly in search of job.

The Abia State Commissioner for Information, Dr. Eze Chikamnayo, who was at the command to see things, commended the effort of the security agencies in arresting the situation on time.

There were also calls for efforts to be intensified towards fishing out the other two buses that escaped with their occupants.
