The Delta State government yesterday said it has disbursed in the last 13 years a total of N1.551billion to 741 public servants as housing loans, while N1.877billion was disbursed to 4,653 public servants as vehicle loans under different cadre and salary grade levels.

stating that the minimum loan released to workers is between N400,000 to N450,000 while the maximum is N1.5million based on grade level of the workers in the civil service.
Sir Evuarherhe disclosed that the state currently has a total of 51,604 workers in the state public service excluding primary school teachers whom he said have been under local government.
He stated that a total of 1,492 were removed from the state public service in 2013, while between January and September 2014, 802 left the service.
Out of the 2,292 staff members that left the service in the two years, the head of service said that some of the workers left under compulsory and voluntary retirement while others left through death, withdrawal, resignation and dismissal from the service.
Sir Evuarherhe further disclosed that the civil service recruitment which started last year was still on course, adding that the state government had progressed by adding 986 new staffs to the service
through the state civil service commission.
While commending the state government for strengthening the state workforce through the absorption of 1,072 casual workers into the state work force in April 2013, the head of service said that
government had recruited 47 nursing tutors, 3 library assistants and two librarians both employed by the state hospital management board, assuring that the state government had continued to provide peaceful working environment for the workers.
