Chelsea have agreed a deal for Augsburg left back Baba Rahman, the Blues have announced.
The Barclays Premier League champions, who lost 3-0 at Manchester City on Sunday, will sign the Ghanaian on a five-year contract for an initial fee of £14million.
The deal will see a further £3.5m paid in bonuses depending on Chelsea performances, £700,000 after the 21-year-old completes 20 games and a further £3.5m after he has made 100 appearances — meaning the total value of the deal could reach almost £22m.
Upon signing, Rahman told Chelsea's official website: 'I am very happy to sign for Chelsea, one of the biggest clubs in the world, and I can't wait to train with my new team-mates and very much looking forward to working with them and Mr Mourinho.
'I am also looking forward to having the opportunity to meet the fans as soon as possible.'
While Augsburg's general manager Stefan Reuter told the German club's official website: 'Baba Rahman has developed tremendously in his year with us and made a great leap.
'It's not just reward for his achievements, but also for our work, if international giants like Chelsea are interested in signing him.'
Rahman played 31 games for Augsburg last season after joining from German second division side Greuther Furth.
Rahman added: 'I thank all those responsible, the coaches and fans of Augsburg, for their support last year.
'I have to take this chance to play at a top club in England, although I was actually set on a long-term stay in Augsburg a year ago. I felt very comfortable in the team.'
The signing was announced by Chelsea less than an hour after their defeat at the Etihad Stadium, where they fell to goals from City trio Sergio Aguero, Vincent Kompany and Fernandinho.
