Corruption: Buhari descends on civil servants

Disturbed by the rot and thriving corruption in the civil service, which has cost the country trillions of naira, President Muhammadu Buhari has taken his anti-graft war to the sector.

He has ordered that all outstanding audit queries which had piled up over the years be resolved within the next 30 days.

Confirming the presidential directive, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media & Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu, said the unanswered audit queries sounded unsavoury to the President who, on hearing it, expressed his displeasure.

Governors Are The Biggest Thieves – Ex-Minister

Chief Richard Akinjide, the second republic minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation has taken a swipe at state governors.

In an interview on Galaxy television yesterday, August 2, 2015, the Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), accused state governors of corruption, calling them “the biggest thieves.”

Contrary to the cries of state governors about inheriting empty treasuries in their states, Akinjide insisted that states are broke because governors are stealing money.

PDP Kicks Against CBN’s Ban Of Foreign Currency Deposits

Nigeria’s opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has disagreed with the country’s apex bank, Central Bank of Nigeria decision to bar foreign currency deposits into domiciliary accounts.
In a statement issued by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh, the party said the absence of an economic team at the moment, especially in the third month of the administration, was leading the country into economic quagmire and doldrums.

Seriake Dickson’s Aide Dumps PDP For APC

An aide of the Bayelsa state governor, Seriake Dickson, has dumped the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state for the opposition, All Progressive Congress (APC).

The aide, Prince Ebitemi Amgbare, who is the General Manager of Bayelsa State Transport Authority also resigned his appointment to formally decamp to the APC. According to National Mirror, he said his political future is not tied to Governor Dickson or Alamieyeiseigha.
