Use your children as thugs, Edo youths tell politicians

AHEAD of the 2015 general elections in Edo State, thousands of youths in the state, yesterday, held a procession round major roads in Benin, saying politicians should use their children as thugs, warning that they would resist attempts by politicians in the state to engage youths as thugs.

The youths, who declared this on the occasion of the 2014 International Youth Day, called on the state government to set up a panel of inquiry to investigate the alleged murder of Mr. Daniel Aifegha, who was allegedly killed for political reasons in Owan West Local Government Area of the state last month.

Five suspected Boko Haram members docked over kidnapping in Kogi

Five suspected members of the Boko Haram sect were yesterday arraigned before a Lokoja chief magistrate’s court 1 over alleged involvement in the kidnap of children of the Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Alhaji Momoh-Jimoh Lawal.

The suspects, Ibrahim Garba, Usman Musa, Husseini Ovaku, Husseini Umar and Ogah Sunday, were charged with criminal conspiracy, armed robbery, membership of an unlawful organisation and kidnapping contrary to Sections 97(1), 289(c) and 100 of the Penal Code Law and 3(3) and 7 of the Kogi State Kidnapping, Thuggery and other related Offences (Prohibition) Law, 2010.
