Flood destroys 100 houses, farmland in Sokoto

The flood that swept through Butuku-Babba village of Bodinga Local Government in Sokoto State on June 29 has wrecked havoc on the community destroying no fewer than 100 houses.

NAN correspondent, who visited the village on Friday reports that the disaster had also submerged several farmlands.

This led to the loss of farms produce, including rice, onions, millet, guinea corn, sugar cane and beans, among others.

Boko Haram Terrorists kill 145 in multiple Borno attacks

Boko Haram terrorists have killed at least 145 people in multiple attacks carried out in Borno State communities, reports say.

The attacks occurred on Tuesday, June 30 and Wednesday, July 1, 2015, in the Monguno and Kukawa Local Government Areas of the state.

48 men were said to have been killed on Tuesday at Musarram village in Monguno while on Wednesday, another 97 people were killed in Kukawa, a town on the border with Niger Republic.

US says rescuing Chibok girls is ‘high priority’

The United States of America has assured Nigeria of its commitment towards rescuing the abducted Chibok girls.
 
This was disclosed on Thursday, July 2, 2015, by the US Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs, Linda Thomas-Greenfield, and the Commander United States Africa Command (USAAFRICOM), Gen. David Rodriguez, during a joint online press conference.

Thomas-Greenfield also said that the US would aid Nigeria in the fight against Boko Haram.

Man Flees After Learning Of Wife's Third Sets Of Twins

Emeka Benjamin Uche, a 39-year-old factory worker in Lagos, fled his home after learning that his pregnant wife was carrying her third pair of twins.

Uche’s whereabouts have been unknown ever since his wife, Ruth, 34, from Abia state, broke the news of his disappearance.

According to The Nation, Uche’s wife came to the Lagos state secretariat on Thursday, July 2, with her six children, seeking assistance.
