Court hearing for Jonathan re-election

ABUJA—The Supreme Court, yesterday, fixed December 16 to commence hearing on the suit seeking to stop President Goodluck Jonathan from vying for a re-election next year.

The apex court okayed the appeal which was filed before it by a Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, from Adamawa State, Dr. Umar Ardo for hearing on a day President Jonathan insisted that he is legally qualified to contest in the 2015 general elections.

Seized arms belong to French mission in Chad —Russia

Russia has said that the arms and ammunition being conveyed by a plane that was seized at the Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano, on Saturday belonged to the French peace-keeping mission in Chad.

►The Russian Embassy in Abuja, which said this on its Twitter handle on Sunday, explained that the seized aircraft had been chartered to transport the military equipment and that the crew members were not Russians.
