Federal High Court Sets Date To Rule On Kashamu Buruji

A Federal High Court in Abuja has fixed a date for its ruling on an application by the Federal Government seeking a warrant to alleged drug lord, Senator Buruji Kashamu  representing Ogun-East Senatorial District in the National Assembly.
According to the Daily Independent, Justice Gabriel Kolawole in a short ruling said he would decide on July 1st 2015 if there was a good basis for the commencement of the extradition proceedings against Kashamu.

APC Senators Officially Nominate Ndume As Majority Leader

The All Progressives Congress on June 25 officially nominated Ali Ndume as the majority leader of the Senate, despite a party directive prescribing the role for Ahmed Lawan.

Premium Times adds that Bala Ibn Na’alla, a former House of Representatives member, was nominated as deputy leader, while Francis Alimikhena was nominated for deputy chief whip.

Gunmen kill 2 policemen, abduct 2 Lebanese in Bayelsa

Gunmen on Wednesday killed two policemen and abducted two Lebanese in Onuegbum, Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa.

The slain policemen were attached to Pache Construction Company, employers of the abducted Lebanese.

The gunmen, numbering about eight, according to witnesses, arrived in the community at about 12.20p.m. in two speed boats through the waterway.

A 15-year-old suspected armed robber, Kosi Ebosie, arrested in Umuchu town in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State, southeast Nigeria, has confessed that he actually inherited robbery from his father who was a notorious criminal in the area.

He said his family members are not surprised as they used to tell him that he resemble his father who he said was known for taking what did not belong to him.

The suspect was arrested along with two members of his gang, Chima David, 17, from Imo State and Onyedika Ikesinachi, 16, on Tuesday 23 June, 2015.

NASS Crisis: Governors beg Buhari to save APC

As the National Assembly crisis took a turn for the worse Tuesday, governors of the All Progressives Congress have asked President Muhammadu Buhari to intervene and save the party from “derailing”.

The reported meeting between the governors and Buhari, began 11:00 pm on Tuesday and ended in the wee hours of Wednesday morning. The agenda was how to resolve the smouldering crisis arising from the election of the leadership of the national assembly.

Reps to probe NNPC’s crude swap contracts, $8bn loss

The House of Representatives on Wednesday ordered a fresh probe of the Refined Product Exchange Agreement contracts between the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation and various trading companies.

Otherwise known as SWAP, the scheme involved the exchange of crude oil for refined petroleum products in which the NNPC gave out 445,000 barrels of crude per day.

A House resolution passed on Wednesday indicated that nine companies benefited from the contracts through the Pipelines Product Marketing Company, a subsidiary of the NNPC.

Banks lose millions in daring robbery attack

Dare-devil armed robbers, in commando-style, yesterday, held residents of Ipakodo area of Ikorodu in Lagos hostage for about two hours as they robbed two major banks in the area.

Jega Tells Other African Nations To Use Nigeria's Model

EFCC To Probe Akpabio Over Alleged N108.1bn Fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC has began to probe into the alleged fraud of N108.1billion of Akwa Ibom funds by former Governor Godswill Akpabio.

This comes after a petition was sent to the office of the commission by one Abuja based lawyer, Leo Ekpenyong who called on President Buhari and the EFCC to look into the alleged looting Akwa Ibom state treasury.

Lawyer Threatens To Drag President Buhari To Court

Sunny Akanni, a lawyer from Kaduna state, has threatened to drag President Muhammadu Buhari to court if he failed to appoint ministers from each of the 36 states of the federation.
