The All Progressives Congress (APC) has raised the alarm over the antics of a certain political party that has engaged in buying Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs) with a view to disenfranchising the owners of such cards, especially in opposition strongholds.

In a statement issued in Lagos on Friday by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party said while such purchased PVCs may not be transferable, those who are buying them are doing so to reduce the votes in the opposition strongholds and improve the chances of their own party at the polls.

Spiritualist arraigned over alleged N3.5m fraud

►The Police in Lagos on Friday docked a 37-year-old Yinka Daudu, who claimed to be a spiritualist, for allegedly stealing N3.5 million belonging to one Monday Jatau.

►The accused was charged before a Shomolu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on a three-count charge for stealing N3.5 million from Jatau, under the pretext that he will solve his spiritual problem.

Mr Thomas Muhammed, the prosecutor, an Inspector of Police, told the court that the accused conspired with others now at large to steal the money, without offering solution to the complainant’s problem.

Death sentence on 54 soldiers, miscarriage of justice —Falana

Soldiers tasked with fighting Boko Haram militants arrive to face trials for mutiny in Abuja on October 2, 2014.

FIFTY-FOUR soldiers, who were sentenced to death on Wednesday by the General Court-Martial following their conviction on a two-count charge of conspiracy to mutiny and mutiny, have described their sentence as gross miscarriage of justice which cannot stand.

Fifty nine soldiers were put on trial by the court-martial, while five of them were discharged and acquitted.
