Yola - Twenty seven people have been confirmed dead in the bomb blast at the popular Gambo-Jimeta market in Jimeta, Yola, the Adamawa State capital.

The National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, confirmed this to journalists in Yola.

The blast occurred at about 7:45pm Thursday close to Zenith Bank along market road.

Nigerian troops kill 2 suicide bomber commanders in Borno

The Defence Headquarters on Friday said two suicide bombers leading a band of terrorists died as troops repelled the insurgents’ attack on Shetimari, Borno, on Thursday evening.

The suicide bombers were among “over a score” of terrorists who died in Shetimari .

This was contained in a statement issued in Abuja by Major General Chris Olukolade, Director of Defence Information.

US send team to Nigeria to renew cooperation over Boko Haram

The United States will send a team to Nigeria in the next few weeks to discuss with the new government ways to renew cooperation in the fight against the Islamist militant group Boko Haram, a senior US diplomat said on Thursday.

The House of Representatives on Thursday passed the lingering Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB).

The House, after considering an Ad hoc Committee report on 312 sections and 438 clauses, unanimously passed the bill into law.

It would be recalled that the Chairman of the Ad hoc Committee on PIB, Rep. Ishaku Bawa (PDP-Taraba), submitted the report of the committee’s assignment to the House in March 2015.

Boko Haram!! Buhari demands more action from multi-national task force

President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday in N’djamena, Chad, urged member-countries of the Lake Chad Commission to intensify the operations of the Multi-National Joint Task Force, MNJTF established to tackle the Boko Haram insurgency.
Speaking at bilateral talks between Nigeria and Chad, Buhari noted that the security of Nigeria and her neighbours’ were intrinsically linked.

Ghana President John Dramani Mahama on Thursday announced three days of national mourning after a deadly petrol station fire killed at least 90 people during heavy flooding in the capital, Accra.

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, yesterday made moves to set aside the ruling of a Federal High court restraining it from arresting the Ogun East Senator-elect, Prince Buruji Kashamu describing the facts presented to the court in its absence as erroneous.
