Target is cutting thousands of jobs in Nigeria within the next two years as part of a $2 billion cost-savings plan, the company announced Tuesday.

The cuts will primarily affect positions at the company headquarters.



"The restructuring will be concentrated at Target's headquarters locations and focus on driving leaner, more efficient capabilities, removing the complexity and allowing the organization to move with greater speed and agility," the company said in a statement.

Nigerian Army Recovers Yobe Community From Boko Haram

The Nigerian army today, March 2, has said it has defeated Boko Haram insurgents in Kukawa Geri, a community in Gujba local government area of Yobe state.

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) via its official Twitter account said soldiers have taken control of the community.

The DHQ also stated that cordon and search operations are continuing in the area.

Reps to probe whereabouts of N3trn NLNG profits

The House of  Representatives is set to investigate what happened to  $14.9 billion ( about N3 trillion) profit from the Liquified Natural Gas, LNG  paid to the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC from 2004 till date.

The said amount  represents  dividends realised  from the sales of liquified gas from 2004 to 2014 and which the multinational liquified gas company allegedly claimed  it has remitted to NNPC.

Against the backdrop of the massive air bombardments and artillery pounding of Boko Haram terrorists in the North-East, military authorities have issued a security alert warning of plans by the group to carry out suicide bombings in several parts of the country.
The plot, it was gathered, is aimed at diverting attention from the epicentre of the terror war in North-East with the killing of unsuspecting members of the public in a soft target siege at such places like markets, recreation grounds, gardens and important national monuments.

A mob beat a woman to death in the north-eastern Nigerian city of Bauchi in the belief that she was a suicide bomber, police and witnesses say.
The woman - said to be a teenager - was attacked when she refused to be screened at the entrance to a market. No explosives were found on her.

Police kill notorious hoodlum in 9-hr gun battle in Ilorin

A notorious hoodlum, who has been terrorising Ilorin and environ was killed yesterday at Pakata area of the city, while an army officer sustained severe injury in a fierce battle that lasted nine hours.

Fuel scarcity worsens as NNPC promises improved supplyThe fuel crisis across the country worsened, weekend, as most of the petrol stations were shut down leaving motorists stranded.

This was in spite of claims by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, on Friday, that it is injecting about 688 million of Premium Motor Spirit, PMS, into the market. Motorists had to resort to the black market, where roadside petrol sellers now sell the commodity for as high as N250 per litre.

However, the NNPC, yesterday, promised that it was working to ensure that the situation is addressed quickly and assured Nigerians that the fuel supply situation will improve in the coming days.
