Members of Nigeria Union of Pensioners, Electricity Sector, in Lagos and Kwara states on Monday protested against the alleged non-payment of their harmonization, monetisation and gratuity entitlements, said to amount to N25bn nationwide.

The pensioners also lamented the non-payment of their four-month salaries and 14 years arrears on housing, health and other allowances.

Boko Haram Ambush 850 Soldiers In Kogi

►About 850 soldiers shortlisted for a counter-terrorism course at the Nigerian Army Training Centre in Kontagora, Niger State narrowly escaped death when they were ambushed by suspected members of the outlawed Boko Haram islamist sect.

►Four of them were however seriously injured in the incident which took place at a location between Okene and Lokoja, Kogi State on Sunday night.

Three NATO soldiers killed in Kabul suicide car bomb

A Taliban suicide bomber rammed an explosives-laden car into a NATO convoy close to the US embassy in Kabul on Tuesday, killing three soldiers and wounding at least 13 Afghan civilians.

At the side of the road, US and Polish troops gave first-aid to blood-stained comrades beside the wrecked remains of a military vehicle, but the nationality of the dead soldiers was not confirmed.

►NEMA said the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, has ordered the release of five dogs  for emergency response.

►Two Nigerians and an Israeli citizen are presently being held by South African police for attempting to illegally bring $9.3m cash into the country.
