Nigerians Shun Other Banks' ATMs Over N65 charge

Customers on Monday dumped the use of other banks’ Automated Teller Machines in a bid to avoid paying the newly introduced N65 ATM fee, which became effective that day.

The Central Bank of Nigeria, in collaboration with the Bankers’ Committee, had on August 13, 2014 announced the introduction of the N65 service fee on cash withdrawals from other banks’ ATMs.

'Voters without permanent cards won't vote'

►The Independent National Electoral Commission on Monday in Abuja said that voters who did not collect their Permanent Voter Cards by December 2014, “would be disenfranchised in the 2015 general elections.”

►Nigeria Immigration Service, NIS yesterday declared that the 45 immigrants arrested weekend, during a joint raid with policemen attached to Area ‘A’ Command, Lion Building, in two hotels in Lagos, were neither terrorists nor Ebola patients, as widely rumored.

►Rather, it explained that the immigrants were legally in the country and had the necessary documents.

45 terrorists feared dead as military repels attack on Bama council

No fewer  than 45 suspected members of Boko Haram sect have been killed in an encounter with military troops when the terrorists in their large number attempted to invade and take over Bama Local Government Area of Borno state.

Also, over 30 of the insurgents were injured with minor injuries sustained  during the fierce battle with the security operatives that lasted over five hours.

This came as Governor Sullivan Chime yesterday swore in his new deputy, Reverend Raphael Ifeanyi Nwoye.

►The governor announced the redeployment of the former deputy governor to the State Civil Service as a deputy director on Grade Level 15. Onyebuchi was in the civil service before being appointed to political office by the Nnamani administration.

Expect more Ebola virus cases – FG

The Federal Government has disclosed that more Nigerians are likely to test positive to the Ebola Virus Disease, EVD, following the confirmation of fresh cases of the disease in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, even as the Lagos State Government says it is in control of the outbreak in Lagos.

Minister of Health, Professor Onyebuchi Chukwu, who spoke in Abuja yesterday during the 2nd Emergency National Council on Health Meeting on the outbreak of EVD in the country, said the last may not have been heard about the EVD outbreak as  contacts currently under surveillance may come down with the disease.

►Confessing his sins, Best Momodu, an indigene of Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State, who murdered his father, said he committed the dastard act with anger after he stole a stick of cigarette from his father.
