I'll continue to blame past governments for Nigeria's woes

President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday said despite the criticisms of many, he would continue to blame his predecessors for Nigeria’s woes.

He said, passing the buck, which people have been frowning on, was important in order for Nigerians to know what went wrong with the country.

Buhari spoke at an event tagged, “The Conversation: An evening with creative youths,” held inside the old Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The event, attended also by the President’s wife, Aisha; Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo and his wife, Dolapo; as well as governors and other top government officials, had “Creative youth as drivers of the change agenda,” as its theme.

Buhari: I'm very disappointed in the Nigerian media

President Muhammadu Buhari has said that he is disappointed in the Nigerian press.
He said his grouse was that the media did not give his administration the credit for the agricultural revolution he said was ongoing in the country.

Buhari spoke while hosting some young political appointees to a dinner at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Wednesday night.
“I’m very disappointed in the Nigerian press. They didn’t give this government the credit of the “Go back to the land” programme. We have cut down the importation of rice by at least 90 per cent,” the President said.

Don’t contest presidency till after 2019 Buhari tells youth

President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday asked youths who might be eyeing his seat to postpone their campaigns till after the 2019 presidential election.

The Nigerian leader, who has already indicated interest in seeking a fresh four-year mandate in 2019, made the appeal shortly after signing the much-publicised Not-Too-Young-To-Run Bill into law at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The new law reduces the eligible age for those seeking to be members of the state Houses of Assembly and House of Representatives from 30 to 25 years; and those aspiring to be President from 40 to 35 years.

The age limits for senators and state governors were not reduced as originally proposed by the sponsors of the bill.

“I am confident each one of you will transform Nigeria in your own way – whether through the media, agricultural enterprise, as economists, engineers, or as lawmakers in your states or at the federal level, or as state governors – and even someday, as President. Why not?

Buhari is holding Nigeria to ransom – Protesters

Protesters on Wednesday accused President Muhammadu Buhari of holding the nation to ransom by his absence.

The contended that acting President Yemi Osinbajo has been unable to take concrete decisions that could move the nation forward.

The group said Osinbajo could not allocate portfolios to ministerial nominees despite the transmission of power to him, stressing that this proved that Buhari’s absence was stagnating the nation.

The protesters who held a sit-out at the Unity Fountain, Maitama, Abuja under the wary eyes of policemen, stressed that the President is not greater than the country.

Buhari was attacked by PDP for commissioning Port Harcourt Airport terminal

The party accused Buhari of being only good at commission projects the PDP started.

The PDP said the project was conceptualised, articulated and financed by its administration.
The PDP said this in a statement Thursday by its spokesman, Kola Ologbondiyan.

The party said Nigerians were thoroughly amused when President Buhari’s handlers brought him to Port Harcourt, Rivers State, for the first time since his inauguration in 2015, only to orchestrate another failed attempt to claim credit for project executed by others.

“If anything, the Buhari administration, in its incompetence, only succeeded in delaying the completion of the project, which was perfected by the PDP, including payments to contractors.
