Meeting with the President
I met with the DSS on Sunday at about 3pm and I drove there on my own.
Oshiomhole, however, did not expressly confirm or deny if he met with the President on the DSS matter, when questioned on the subject.
He continued: "On my meeting with the President, the President is the President of Nigeria and he is elected on the platform of our party, which I am privileged currently to be the Chairman of. I visit the villa at least two to three times a week. I have a duty to brief Mr. President on what were doing in the party. I have the privilege of learning from the President what the government is doing as it relates to what the party expects of the government elected on our platform.
"Meeting the President is not news at all. Those are my privileges and I think it will continue to be so as long as Mr. President is gracious enough to give me the privilege to want to know what we're doing in the party, and also to hear my own suggestions on a variety of issues as it affects governance, our party and the country.
Nwosu declared, “I am the lawful governorship candidate of the APC in Imo state"
Nwosu, a former Chief of Staff to Governor Okorocha, spoke to his followers after his arrival from Abuja on Tuesday, declaring that he was the lawful governorship candidate of the APC in the State.
He declared, “I am the lawful governorship candidate of the APC in Imo state. Our national chairman did not respect the rule of law and the constitution of our party by substituting senator Hope Uzodinma’s name for mine.
Boko Haram commanders were killed
Garga added that the gangsters carted 200 cows, 300 sheep and some goats away after the attack.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian Army said on Sunday two Boko Haram commanders were killed by soldiers during clearance operations in Borno, according to the News Agency of Nigeria.
The army on its Twitter handle named the Boko Haram commanders as Abu Rajal and Tuja Sa’inna Banki.
The army tweeted, “Recall that troops of 25 Task Force Brigade, Chibok and 28 Task Force Brigade, Damboa, embarked on joint clearance operations from Gumsuri to Gambori in Borno on November 9, 2018. They successfully cleared and liberated some villages.
“Reports just reaching the Nigerian Army Headquarters confirmed that two high profile Boko Haram terrorists’ commanders named Abu Rajal and Tuja Sa’inna Banki were killed during the clearance operations.
“The Chief of Army Staff, Lt General Tukur Buratai, commended the gallant troops and urged them to carry out further incursions and clearance operations to ensure that the remnants of the insurgents were completely wiped out.
Nothing can stop the zeal of Nigerians to elect the president of their choice.
He said Nigerians had a better alternative by sticking to President Muhammadu Buhari who he claimed had done so much to ensure better future for them.
But Atiku’s spokesman, Paul Ibe, dismissed Nabena’s claims.
Ibe said the forthcoming election would not be about money but the supreme will of Nigerians.
He said, “Nothing can stop an idea whose time has come. Nothing can stop the zeal of Nigerians to elect the president of their choice.
“This election will not be won by money or lies or propaganda or intimidation but by the supreme will of the Nigerian people as expressed in their votes.
“Atiku Abubakar will be elected as president by Nigerians in February 2019 notwithstanding the machinations of the APC-led administration.”
Why Buhari told Diaspora Nigerians not to vote in 2019 elections.
On the participation of Nigerians in diaspora in the forthcoming elections, the President said the population of citizens in various countries across the world already necessitate their inclusion to elect leaders, noting that it might not happen in the 2019 elections as the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, had been more focused on strengthening and consolidating on its achievements of conducting credible elections within the country. Stressing that it could happen in future, he added that the Nigerian constitution had taken into cognizance the need for representation in the political structures in order to ensure harmony and development, urging more people to pick interest in governance and quality representation.
President Buhari in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Chief Femi Adesina, assured Nigerians that allocations to the educational sector will be improved as revenue increases, describing the sector as a major engine for the development of any country. According to him, “We are currently reviewing investments in the entire infrastructure of the country like road, rail and power, including investing more in education. We will certainly need to do more in education.”

President's Advice to Nigerian elites, both at home and in the diaspora.
President Buhari enjoined Nigerian elites, both at home and in the diaspora, to do more in contributing to the educational sector of the country, expressing surprise that the elites tolerated the fall in standards and structures of educational institutions despite oil windfalls. He said, “I am doing my best now to utilize our resources to develop the country,’’ he said. “ We are already getting results on road, rail and power.
My frustration is that some people still have plenty stolen money stashed in Europe, U S and other countries.’’ President Buhari said return of stolen assets in some safe heavens will bolster the administration’s current effort of investing more in critical infrastructure that directly impact on the livelihood of Nigerians .
The President said the war against terrorism will be reinforced with new weapons and hardware for the military, while the challenge of abduction and kidnapping in some parts of the country will receive more attention with better gathering of intelligence. “We campaigned on three key issues; security, improving the economy, and fighting corruption, and we have not been controverted by anyone that we have not recorded some results,’’ he added. In her remarks, Nigerian Ambassador to France, Dr. Modupe Enitan Irele, said the Nigerian community in France had demonstrated high sense of responsibility, dedication and morality, adding that the large number of professionals had been encouraged to also contribute to the country’s development.

Olusegun Obasanjo's Hopes on Youth
He said despite challenges, he was hopeful that Africa and indeed Nigeria have youths who possess “intellectual prowess and ingenuity capable of leading Africa to the promised land.”
He said, “Enough of using other people’s children as experimental subjects and keeping ours in safe havens. Enough of using other people’s children as political thugs and ballot box snuffers, while we send ours to Ivy League schools.
“Enough of thinking we know what is right for young people without their input or the courtesy of asking for their opinions.
“If constitutional changes are required, let us begin now. If policies and political party structures have to change, let us begin now. Of what use is a law that allows young people contest a particular office only to be confronted with the hurdle of outrageously exorbitant cost of party nomination forms and campaign costs?
“I see hope that the future of Africa is in the hands of its youths. I see hope of a continent where the creative energies, intellectual prowess and ingenuity of our youths are capable to lead us to our promised land. I see hope in the courage of our youths to hold government accountable and their resistance to tyranny and despotism.”
Potentials for Economic Growth
“The economy of Lagos cannot be that productive to improve the GDP if there are no people with good conscience and this is what this fellowship stands for.
“It is not enough for you to have resources, it is not enough for you to have people that can improve productivity but again there are people who have to be drivers to arrive at the GDP or the kind of nation that we want,” he said.
Ambode said since his assumption of office in the last three and half years, concerted efforts had been made to ensure religious harmony and also create greater enabling environment for businesses to thrive.
“All we do as a government is just to ensure that we create an enabling environment for people to practice religion without interference and at the same time greater enabling environment for them to do their businesses.
“So, when we combine good businesses and good religious conscience, obviously the nation will grow and then the nation will develop,” Ambode said.
Prof. Akindele's Punishment
One of the counts reads, “That you, Prof. Akindele, on or about the 16th day of September, 2017, at Ile-Ife, did corruptly ask for sexual benefits for yourself from Ms Monica Osagie on account of favour to be afterwards shown to her by you in the discharge of your official duties as a lecturer in the Department of Management and Accounting, Obafemi Awolowo University, to wit: altering her academic grades in the course with code MBA 632 – Research Method – from fail to pass; and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 8(1)(a)(ii) of the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act, 2000.”
The 57-year-old professor had, through his lawyer, Omotayo Alade-Fawole, asked for plea bargain, having admitted guilt. He also cited ill-health as a factor that might make him unable to stand the rigours of prison.
He pleaded that his prayers for plea bargain be considered, more so as he was already serving punishment for his offence having been sacked by the university.
Judging by the prior depth of decay, deterioration and disrepair that Nigeria had sunken into, we are certain that these past few years have put us in good stead to trudge on the Next Level of building an even stronger nation for our people.
We were a nation at war – but we delivered on our commitment to secure the territorial integrity of our nation in the face of a raging insurgency that devastated many parts of the North East.
We liberated 17 Local Government Areas from the grip of insurgency. Brokering and sustaining peace in the Niger Delta has also been crucial to stabilising the polity.
Despite the difficult circumstances presented by weak oil prices and reduced oil production, we delivered on our commitment to make public investments to spur economic growth, job creation, and broad-based prosperity.
Agriculture continues to expand our economic base, as do our investments in deficient infrastructure across the length and breadth of this nation.
We implemented a responsible and transparent fiscal plan for the challenging economic times that saw us doing more even with lesser oil revenues.
Grand scale corruption perpetrated at the highest level of government is now a thing of the past, just as the Treasury Single Account (TSA) has made it more difficult for ministries, departments and agencies to exercise the unrestrained liberties that helped foster a climate conducive to corruption.
The nation’s wealth is now being invested in capital projects to expand infrastructure and connect people, goods and opportunities by rail, road and air. Also, the Federal Government supported state governments with bailouts that enabled them to pay workers on their payroll.
We took an unprecedented step towards creating a fairer and more equitable society by implementing Africa’s biggest social investment programme.

Advice to Politicians
The REC advised politicians to dignify the electoral process by shunning violence and other malpractices that question the integrity of the process so that they would be proud to say they have won elections through a fair process.
On the 2019 election, Effanga said: “Rivers State has 2.8 million PVCs so far in terms of voters’ strength up to the end of March this year. Those have also been collected. We have a difference of about 400,000 cards that have not been collected, and these are cards ranged from 2011 up to march of this year.
“Between April and August, people still registered. We have a figure of about 400, 000 who registered within that time, and these are also being processed. By the time we add the ones from April to August when we suspended the registration process, we will then know how many registered voters we have in Rivers State going into the elections.
“But of course this is the figure of registered voters, not of everybody who have collected their PVCs and you also know that not everybody with PVC would turn out to vote on election day.”
Effanga also said the present INEC was taking steps to ensure the integrity of the electoral process and declared that it was no more business as usual.
He said the decision of the commission to suspend the August 18 by-election of Port Harcourt constituency III in the state shocked many stakeholders who had anticipated profiting from the violence that characterised the election.
Perhaps our biggest ambition yet is the overhaul of our education sector. Every child counts – and simply, whatever it takes to prepare our teachers, curriculum and classrooms to attain the right educational goals that grow our country, will be done.
We will remodel 10,000 schools every year and retrain our teachers to impart science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics using coding, animation, robotics to re-interpret our curriculum.
We know that to succeed, moral integrity and conscience must continue to form the dominant character of our nation and its leadership. Corruption is an existential threat to Nigeria. Despite the gains we have made in closing the gates, we know that there is still much ground to cover to stop systemic corruption.
We are committed to deepening the work we started this first term such that the nation’s assets and resources continue to be organised and utilised to do good for the common man.
The next four years will be quite significant for our country. Nigeria is faced with a choice to keep building a new Nigeria- making a break from its tainted past which favoured an opportunistic few. Our choices will shape us – our economic security and our future prosperity.
Nigeria, more than ever before, needs a stable and people-focused government to move the agenda for our country forward. Join us on this journey to the Next Level of a prosperous, strong and stable Nigeria!
Nigerians, we are all going higher!Job Description

Parties stakeholders should carry out their activities
In his welcome speech, Project Coordinator, European Centre for Electoral Support (ECES), Mr. Rudolf Elbling, said political parties, which are primary stakeholders in the electoral process, should carry out their activities, especially in the areas of campaign finance and conduct of primaries, in a manner that implicates the transparency and integrity of the electoral system.
He noted that excessive and improper deployment of money compromised the freedom of people to exercise their choices in elections, stressing that the decision to put the workshop together was with the objectives of building the capacity of INEC staff to effectively monitor the campaign finances of political parties ahead of the 2019 election.
Elbling said the workshop was timely, adding, “This will also draw useful lessons from the recently conducted primaries of political parties.”
On his part, Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Cross River State, Frankland Briyai, said the workshop would address issues concerning political parties’ refusal to disclose their finances.
Briyai, who spoke through INEC Administrative Secretary, Mrs. Irene Okoma, said it had been a great challenge for the commission to monitor such processes and urged INEC staff to take advantage of the training.

To achieve this goal, the INEC chairman called on all stakeholders — governments, election administrators, security agencies, civil society groups, the media, political parties, candidates and their supporters — to play their roles. According to him, the commission has embarked on the consolidation of full biometric voter registration through the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) between April 27 and Aug. 31, among other preparations.
He said that at the end of the exercise, some 14.5 million Nigerians were added to the existing register of about 70 million, and the voters register for the 2019 elections had hit 84.2million. Yakubu, who called for support of all stakeholders for the collection of PVCs, said that a new approach to the collection would commence early in December and continue until a week to the elections.
According to him, the PVCs of those who registered in 2017 and those who registered in the first and second quarters of 2018 have been printed and delivered to states. He said that the cards for those who registered in the third quarter of 2018 would be delivered by the end of November, which include all cards for those who applied for intra and interstate transfer and replacements.
Yakubu said there would not be any use of incidence forms, instead, manual register of voters had been redesigned to provide for a box for thumb printing and telephone number of any voter whose biometric was not authenticated by the Smart Card Readers. According to him, the commission has harmonised accreditation and voting, carried out greater engagement, installation of trackers, enhancement of Smart Card Readers and improved logistics.

“We are working to ensure optimal performance of the Smart Card Readers,” the INEC Chairman said. Yakubu highlighted INEC challenges to include do or die mentality of politicians, vote-buying, lack of internal democracy, incendiary speech, security, impunity and lack of consequences for electoral offenders.
According to him, impact of litigation and conflicting court orders are also affecting the commission, but the electoral body continues to put in efforts to improve the conduct of elections in Nigeria. He lamented that there were increasing pre-election cases, with the commission being joined in 273 court actions and numerous petitions. Earlier in his remarks, Dr Haroun Adamu, the Chairman of the occasion and former Chairman, Petroleum Trust Fund, said that social media platforms had been so influential in information dissemination.
“They are the major opinion shapers and are influential. The business model adopted by Real News is very forward-thinking and can be described as being ahead of the crowd. “The team must continue to strive to remain dynamic, flexible and willing to adopt as the environment evolves with advances in technology, particularly in artificial intelligence (AI),” Adamu said. He urged Real News and other media to be the cornerstone of investigative journalism in Nigeria and Africa, and be change agents in the Nigerian social and political landscape, focusing on key sectors of Nigeria’s economy. How Oshiomhole received and shared the money
SaharaReporters can also confirm that the figures mentioned earlier are nothing compared to what the DSS documented in a report it forwarded to the presidency and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) some days ago.
“Total $55 million is what Adams is alleged to have received. Some party chieftains claim it is $80 million,” a source aware of the contents of the report told SaharaReporters.
All committee members signed report – NLC president
Speaking to journalists after the presentation, the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Ayuba Wabba, said every member of the tripartite committee signed the report.
He said the agitation for the national minimum wage was not connected to the forthcoming general elections in the country.
On the capacity of state governments to pay the N30,000, he said “the N18,000 was being paid from 2011 to 2015 until when most of the states emptied their treasuries before elections.
“It was coincidence. In 2011, it was almost at the same time. At whatever time the minimum wage is due, it is our responsibility to raise the issue,” he said.
However a source at the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) said while the president’s endorsement means that federal civil servants would earn N30, 000 as minimum wage, it may not be the same for state workers as governors have said they do not have the resources to pay the amount.
The source added that the governors’ forum did not insist that all states must pay N22, 500 but said those who have capacity to pay N30, 000 minimum wage should go ahead and do so.
Briefing journalists last week, Chairman of the forum, and Governor of Zamfara State Abdul’aziz Yari said it was their position that since the percentage of salaried workers is not more than 5% of the total working population, their position must not just reflect a figure, but also a sustainable strategy based on ability and capacity to pay.
N30,000 wage will cause inflation – Umahi
Governor of Ebonyi State David Umahi said the proposed N30,000 national minimum wage would cause inflation and asked civil servants to look beyond the minimum wage.
He spoke Monday night when fielding questions from journalists at the Presidential lodge, Abakaliki where he inaugurated his re-election campaign.
“If you say something is wide, we should be able to say how wide it is. I believe that if we harness the resources of this country we will have enough to take care of our workers and we will have enough to take care of our health, education and others.
“Civil servants should look beyond minimum wage, even the minimum wage of thirty thousand naira cannot solve their basic needs,
“The reason is that it will cause inflection which is going to sweep out whatever gain you think you have. I think we are approaching this issue of minimum wage very wrongly,” he said.
We must pay a living wage – Expert
Commenting on the impact of the new wage on inflation, Professor of Economist, Derin Ologbenla of the University of Lagos said: “We must pay a living wage. That is certain amount of money to the workers so that they feed. The question of poverty is based on the inability of government to pay a living wage.
“The workers will buy goods and services and the money will boost the economy of the country.”
He argued that most state governors do not understand the impact of paying a living wage.
Ologbenla said: “The private companies know these. We the intellectuals think it is man’s inhumanity to man for a Nigerian not to earn N1,000 a day and also expected to pay tax.
“So it is a lie that this could trigger inflation. When the senators have N13 million a month, did it cause inflation.”
Simon Ebegbulem challenged Frank to publish the names of the alleged bribe givers or face legal action.
Ebegbulem said, “He is a political jobber looking for cheap popularity. How on earth would people of questionable character like Frank be questioning the integrity of the National Chairman? I challenge him to publish the names of those that gave the alleged bribes or we won’t hesitate to institute legal action against him.”
Frank alleged that the DSS had presented its report and findings against Oshiomhole to President Muhammadu Buhari.
He said, “I dare say that this singular act of refusing to order the prosecution of Oshiomhole over sundry acts of bribery and corruption he committed as contained in the DSS report, President Buhari has shown that his APC administration is a stinking house of corruption.”
Frank, however, called on the President to act on the recommendations of the DSS by ordering Oshiomhole’s sacking and prosecution, if his government was actually fighting corruption or opposition.
He said, “We are in the know that President Buhari has received the DSS report on Adams Oshiomhole and Nigerians are patiently waiting for the action or inaction of his government, because this is an administration that has claimed fighting corruption as an achievement.

Oshiomhole ask the Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki, to resign.
“In the history of party administration in Nigeria, no party chairman has been accused of collecting the jaw-breaking amount of money allegedly collected within a short period in office like Comrade Oshiomhole has allegedly done.
“Instead of Oshiomhole to clear his name, he has taken to a diversionary path, asking the Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki, to resign. Nigerians are not gullible. We shall wait to see how the acclaimed anti-corruption regime will act on this particular issue.
“This same Oshiomhole has been attacking the Senate President, calling on him to resign on moral grounds. Can Oshiomhole now step aside while investigation into his financial malfeasance is ongoing to justify his much talked about morality.”
Okorie dismissed the reported endorsement of PDP’s Presidential candidate
Okorie dismissed the reported endorsement of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s Presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, by the Igbo people, saying it was a fluke.
“ I joined Ohaneze in 1976 as an undergraduate. Ohaneze is 42 years and I am 42 years old in the organisation.
“ The original members that founded Ohaneze, they are only four living today including myself.
“All others, including those who lead Ohaneze now, came after that formation and I have been a member of the elders council; there was no where we met and agreed on the event that took place yesterday,’’ he said.
The UPP national chairman said Ohaneze had issued a statement to say it did not, as a body, endorse Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
He said that Ohanze was a non-partisan pan-Igbo organisation and could not have endorsed Atiku.
Okorie said that he and other stakeholders were working towards changing the narrative so that Igbo people would be more involved instead of being out of government.
The house was adjourned
Uzozie was thereafter nominated for speaker by his group, but the Clerk of the House, Pius Udoh, allegedly sneaked out from the chamber, apparently to avoid swearing in Uzozie.
Udoh later told reporters that the “purported impeachment did not meet the constitutional requirements”.
While addressing the House, Maduagwu described her impeachment as “a bundle of illegality”.
She said, “Nobody can impeach me because I have not committed any offence.
APC’s strategies and tactics
Igbokwe said the APC’s strategies and tactics for building virile and democratic institutions were beyond the comprehension of Lagos PDP leaders.
He added: “The Lagos PDP claim of ‘hurried and controversial emergence’ of Sanwo-Olu shows lack of clear understanding of the dynamics and inner workings of Lagos APC.
“What Lagos APC did is to advance the cause of democracy and prove that the party is supreme as we have seen in other climes like South Africa, where former President Mbeki and Zuma were asked to step down in order to advance and strengthen the fortunes of the party.
“The huge lessons have been sent out there for elected persons not to ignore the platforms they used to get to power, and not to kick away the ladder they used in climbing up to where they are.”
Rejecting the notion of lack of preparation for the huge task, the party’s publicity secretary said Agbaje’s experience as the owner of an Apapa-based pharmacy store without any branch for 30 years paled into insignificance in the face of Sanwo-Olu’s experience as a former bank executive, special adviser, commissioner and managing director of a parastatal.
He said: “Babajide Sanwo-Olu has a five-page Resume that is in the public domain and time and space will not permit us to put it here. Babajide Sanwo-Olu is a proud product of the University of Lagos with a degree in Surveying & Informatics and a Master’s degree Holder in Business Administration (MBA).

Sanwo-Olu banking career
“Sanwo-Olu has an enviable banking career, where he rose to the position of DGM at First Atlantic Bank, now First City Monument Bank. He came into the public sector when he was appointed the Acting Commissioner for Economic Planning & Budget in less than a year after he joined the former Governor Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration as SA on Corporate Affairs.
“In 2006, he became the Commissioner for Commerce & Industry and in 2007, he became the Commissioner for Establishment, Training & Pensions under Fashola Administration, which he served diligently from 2007 to 2011.
“Babajide was appointed the MD/CEO Lagos State Property Development Corporation (LSPDC) by Governor Akinwunmi Ambode in 2016 and he has made humongous impact and progress in that huge corporation until he joined the race for the governorship of Lagos State. This is the loaded and heavily experienced Sanwo Olu PDP described as ‘an emergency candidate that is unprepared for the job.
