Lagos generates N120bn from tax in six months

The Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS) on Thursday said it generated more than N120 billion from taxation between January and June this year.

The Executive Chairman of the service, Mr Tunde Fowler, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos that 90 per cent of the taxes were generated from the organised private sector and civil servants.

Gunmen kidnap man as bank manager escapes abduction

A middle aged businessman, Emmanuel Onu, has been abducted in Aba, Abia State, by gunmen believed to be kidnappers.
This is even as a manager of a new generation commercial bank in the city escaped being kidnapped.

►Ex-militants in the Niger Delta have said that termination of the Presidential Amnesty Programme in 2015 could trigger fresh crisis in the region.
►Coordinator of the ex-militants under the third phase amnesty (Ebipa-Opre Ex-militants Forum), Mr. Ramsey Oyakemeagbegha, in a statement in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, said that the conditions which triggered militancy in the region had not been addressed.

Police nab muslim cleric preparing concoction with placenta

An Islamic cleric, simply identified as Alfa Gani was, Wednesday night, caught in Laduba, Ogidi area of Ilorin West Local Government Area, making concoction with the placenta of a new baby girl he performed her naming ceremony the previous day.

After the bizarre incident, sources said human parts were also found in the cleric’s residence.
Consequently, angry members of Laduba community pulled down his two buildings.

Corpse From Liberia Causes Ebola Scare In Anambra

A CORPSE of an Anambra State indigene brought from Liberia, yesterday, caused scare of the dreaded Ebola disease in the state, with officials of the state ministry of health directing security operatives to cordon off the mortuary where the body was deposited pending investigations by experts from the Federal Ministry of Health.

The corpse was brought into the country as a cargo and was taken straight to Apex Hospital and Mortuary at Nkwelle Ezunaka in Oyi Local Government Area of the state, apparently by his relations
