2 Suicide Bombers Were Stopped In Biu

Police arrested two supposed suicide bombers on Sunday, April 5, in Biu town of Borno state, as they closed in on their targets.

One of the attackers was killed after he was stopped as he was about to enter a packed mosque where worshippers were observing their 2pm prayers.

“…Some of our youth(s) on guard suspected the would-be bomber carrying the decoder in his hand; and when they tried to frisk him, it was discovered the decoder was unusually heavy and the carrier began to fidget. As he was trying to escape the youths hacked him down and summarily killed him there and then,” one local said.

PDP expels Lamido’s deputy, Mahmud heads for APC

The Deputy Governor of Jigawa, Alhaji Ahmad Mahmud, has been expelled from the Peoples Democratic Party for alleged anti-party activities.

This was contained in a statement by the PDP chairman of Galagamma ward in Gumel, Jigawa, Alhaji Ibrahim Kafinta, made available to the News Agency of Nigeria  on Monday in Dutse.

The chairman said the decision to expel Mahmud was taken during a stakeholders meeting held in his ward.

Sanusi: Why Jonathan lost to Buhari

Former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria and the current Emir of Kano, Lamido Sanusi, says President Goodluck Jonathan lost because of the mood of voters which was determined by the economic conditions and level of poverty across the country.

Sanusi, who is now known as Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II, said this during an interview with our correspondent on Saturday.

Seven killed in Boko Haram attack in Chad

Seven civilians were killed in an attack in Chad blamed on Nigerian Boko Haram rebels, officials said Monday.

The Islamist militants ambushed people on their way to a market in Tchoukou Telia near Lake Chad on Friday, Dimouya Souapebe, the deputy prefect of Baga Sola told AFP.

Some of the victims had their throats cut while others were shot, he said.
