Impeached Enugu deputy gov rejects redeployment to civil service

►Indications emerged on Tuesday that the impeached deputy governor of Enugu State, Mr. Sunday Onyebuchi, would not accept his redeployment to the state civil service by Governor Sullivan Chime.

►The Enugu State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress also condemned the development, which would see the former deputy governor demoted from a permanent secretary, his rank before he went into politics, to a deputy director.

Cameroon’s army claimed on Tuesday to have killed more than 40 Boko Haram fighters who tried to storm a strategic border crossing from Nigeria.

►The British High Commision has confirmed the death of its Deputy High Commissioner to Nigeria, Mr. Peter Leslie Carter, who slumped and died yesterday, from a possible heart attack on arrival at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos.

►In a statement by Rob Fitzpatrick, Head of Press & Public Affairs Section, British High Commission, Abuja, said the Commission is saddened by the sudden death of Mr. Carter who joined the HM Diplomatic Service in 1984 and was an experienced career diplomat.
