PDP screens Jonathan, Tafawa-Balewa for 2015 race

Ahead of the December 10, 11 National Convention of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, the party yesterday screened President Goodluck Jonathan.

►Also screened yesterday was the son of Nigeria’s late Prime Minister, Dr. Abdul Jelil Tafawa Balewa.
►President Jonathan, who arrived the Wadata Plaza, National Secretariat of the party, went to the National Working Committee, NWC, hall at 3.15p.m., where he was screened for one hour and came down at 4.15p.m.

Gunmen kill 7 soldiers, 43 others in Zamfara

►About 50 people, including seven soldiers, were reportedly killed in Zamfara State yesterday by gunmen suspected to be cattle rustlers.
►The attackers were also alleged to have burnt some houses and destroyed other property worth millions of naira.

According to police sources, the alleged reprisal attack, believed to be the deadliest in recent times, occurred at Lilo town in Gusau Local Government Area of the state.
