IN Abuja - electoral commission met to delay voting. the presidential elections were thrown into increasing doubt on Saturday, as the country's electoral commission met to discuss a minimum six-week delay to voting.

Lawmakers who attended the meeting at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) said the talks about postponement came after a recommendation from national security advisor Sambo Dasuki.

Troops from neighboring Chad, Niger and Cameroon, all much smaller and poorer than Nigeria, have been battling the Islamist militants who have seized territory in northeastern Nigeria in a five-year insurgency.
