Buhari slams FG over fuel scarcity

Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), has condemned the hardship faced by Nigerians in the search for petrol, saying the citizens were wasting productive hours queuing at filling stations.

Police Kill 2 Robbers Who Stole Church Offerings In Edo

Officials of the Edo State police command have gunned down two robbers who stole church offerings at Bishops Court of St James’ Cathedral in Igarra, Akoko-Edo local government area of the state.

Daily Independent gathered that the third suspect who is alleged to be the informant to the robbers has been arrested and he is currently in police custody for further interrogation.

The robbers were reportedly shot dead by the police while trying to escape from interrogation.

Let Jega be, Reps warn Jonathan

The House of Representatives, yesterday, warned President Goodluck Jonathan against removing the chairman of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Attahiru Jega, saying his removal could derail the nation’s democracy.

The House has, therefore, resolved to subject anyone involved in moves to remove Jega to judicial prosecution in Nigeria or at the International Criminal Court, ICC.

President Jonathan has, however, insisted that there was no such plan to remove the INEC chairman ahead of the general elections scheduled for March 28 and April 11.
