INEC’s Chairman to Confirm Election Date After Saturday Meeting

Nigeria’s election agency will decide after a Saturday meeting with political parties if the country’s presidential ballot will go ahead on Feb. 14 as planned.


The Independent National Electoral Commission will “brief the nation on its decision with regard to whether or not the general elections will hold as currently scheduled,” Kayode Idowu, spokesman for the Abuja-based INEC, said in an e-mailed statement Friday.

NSA Formally Asks Jega To Postpone Elections

Reports coming in states the National Security Adviser, NSA has formally asked the  Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC to postpone next week’s election.

2015 Election: INEC Will Decide On Poll Shift This Weekend

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has stated that it would hold a meeting with chairmen and secretaries of all registered political parties, and Resident Electoral Commissioners, (REC) on Saturday, to decide whether to go shift the general elections scheduled for February 14 and 28 Premium Times reports.
In a statement on Friday by the spokesperson of INEC Chairman, Kayode Idowu, he said after the meeting, “the Commission will address a press conference to brief the nation on its decision with regard to whether or not the general elections will hold as currently scheduled”.

BREAKING NEWS: Aregbesola Declared Winner By Tribunal

The Osun State Election Tribunal headed by Justice Elizabeth Ipejime today declared, Osun State Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola of the All Progressives Congress, APC as the winner of the August 2014 governorship election in the state. 
 Aregbesola had defeated Peoples Democratic Party, PDP Senator Iyiola Omisore in a highly contested election.

Aregbesola defeated Omisore with a large margin of about 100,000 votes.
