Fire! Fire!! Fire!!! 12 Dead, 25 Injured In Exlosions

Two bombs have exploded in the Iraqi capital, killing at least 12 people and injuring 25, Al Jazeera has learnt.

The first bomb detonated in central Baghdad’s Bab al-Sharji area near al-Nassir Square around 7.30pm Tuesday, killing at least 10 people and injuring another 18.

An Al Jazeera’s correspondent in Baghdad said separate police sources said the explosion was caused by a car bomb and a suicide bomber with a vest.

Nigerian, Chad troops fail to cooperate in Boko Haram fight: Deby

Chad's President Idriss Deby said on Monday in Nigeria's capital Abuja that the fight against islamist Boko Haram insurgents was being hindered by failure of the two countries' troops to work together.

He said there were plans to form a rapid response force for the African Union from troops of the four countries around the Lake Chad basin - Nigeria, Chad, Niger and Cameroon.

Speaking to reporters after a meeting with Nigeria's outgoing President Goodluck Jonathan, Deby said he was disappointed that a joint agreement with Nigeria was not working.

Girl stabs brother to death in Warri over house chores

A girl, Omasan, 21, allegedly murdered her younger brother, Laju, in Ugbuwangue, Warri South Local Government Area, Delta State, yesterday.

Laju, a student of Yonwuren College, was said to have bled to death from a stab to his chest by Omasan, following a disagreement over sharing of house chores.

Trouble, Vanguard learned, started when Laju, the only male child of the family, insisted that he had already fetched water and was too tired to do any other chore.
