Responsibilities:

The Project Coordinator under the day-to-day supervision of the DR Congo IITA Country Representative based in Kinshasa and under the formal supervision of the Central Africa hub Director and the Social Science and Agribusiness Director, the Coordinator of the project; “Reviving agricultural Research for

Development (R4D) in the D. R. Congo: Proposal for implementing a competitive small grants program”, will undertake the following duties:
Coordinate and manage the above project as a secretary to its steering committee for grants awards, students programs and the implementations of is specific objectives.
Liaise with CRP coordinators interested to operate in DRC towards effective relationships between the CRPs and Congolese research institutes
Lead the formalization of working relationships between INERA, universities and CGIAR CRPs for an efficient alignment between these entities.
Participate actively for resources mobilization for other projects/activities within IITA.
Participate actively in lobbying for renewed interest of the Government of DR Congo in reinvigorating agricultural research for development within INERA as a cornerstone of economic growth.
Organize planning meetings and training workshops in the context of this initiative.
Lead technical and financial project reporting.
Participate actively in IITA team activities in DRC, as relevant and appropriate.
Undertake any other duty as requested by the supervisor or hierarchy.

Educational Qualifications:
The candidate must have a PhD or MSc in Agricultural sciences (Agronomy, breeding, plant protection, post harvest, etc).

Core Competencies:
At least10 years of relevant working experience.
Skills in interdisciplinary team working groups.
Knowledge of DR Congo R4D structures.
Sound knowledge of spoken and written French, additional knowledge of English will be an added advantage.

Duty station:

IITA office in Kinshasa with frequent travels in the country.

General information:
The appointment is for three years. IITA offers a competitive remuneration package paid in US dollars.
