PDP Office Attacked With Explosive
Im Nigeria’s PDP office in Calabar was hurled by A “small explosive” yesterday, according to police.
The attack, which occurred just before dawn, didn’t not hurt anyone, Bassey Hogan, a police spokesman for Cross River state, said by phone today. Police don’t have any suspects and are investigating, he said.
Nigeria is drifting toward political violence that may result in disputed elections in February and authorities need to take action to avoid such an outcome, Brussels-based International Crisis Group said in a report last week.
The PDP, which has governed Africa’s biggest oil producer since the military relinquished power in 1999, is facing the strongest challenge yet from the All Progressives Congress party, formed through the merger of three leading opposition parties.
