Police diffuse bomb in Jos as residents scamper for safety

There was a bomb scare yesterday in Jos the Plateau State as a “grenade” was reportedly found near a Primary school in the city thereby forcing the closure of the school and passersby scampering for safety.

The device was reportedly defused by the Police Anti-bomb squad with one of the experts who did not want to be named saying that the fuse on the bomb had been lit, but it went off before it could cause an explosion.

The expert confirmed “the device is homemade and could not be set off using remote control and it contained about one kilogram of explosives, was about 22 cm long and cylindrical in shape.”

However, the Officer In-charge, O/C Anti-Bomb Squad, Abel Mbibi told Chat212, “it was not a serious thing. The whole situation is under control, people should go about their business.”

It would be recalled that residents had raised concern about the influx of people in the city as the result of the sacking of many communities in some states in the north and they are praying that Jos residents celebrate the coming yuletide in peace.
