Report Just Coming In Now.

Saraki Rejects Buhari’s Age Mate As Ambassadorial Nominee, according to reports, the Ambassadorial Nominee sent to it by President Muhammadu Buhari, was rejected by Senate on Thursday.

The Senate, on Thursday, rejected two out of the 47 non-career Ambassadorial nominees, sent to it by President Muhammadu Buhari, on January 12, 2017.

The two rejected nominees are Justice Sylvanus Adiewere Nsofor, from Imo State; and Jacob Igbekele Daodu, from
Ondo State.
Explaining the rationale behind the disqualification of Nsofor, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, Senator Monsurat Sunmonu, said the Imo nominee was too old to hold a public office. The nominee is 82 years old.

As for the Ondo State nominee, Daodu, the Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman, said he was disqualified, because of a report from the Department of State Security Services, DSS.
According to the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, who presided over the day’s Legislative business, these are the names of the 45 confirmed nominees.

They are: Uzoma Eminike (Abia); Aminu Lawal (Adamawa); Godwin Umoh (Akwa Ibom); Christopher Okeke (Anambra); Yusuf Maitama (Bauchi); Baba Maigudu (Bauchi); Stanley Douye (Bayelsa); and Stephen Uba (Benue).

Aliu (Kogi); Nurudeen Mohammed (Kwara), Mohammed Isa (Kwara); Adesola Omotade (Lagos); Modupe Remi (Lagos); Musa Mohammed (Nasarawa); Ahmed Ibeto (Niger); and Susan Aderonke Folarin (Ogun).

Recall, that President Muhammadu Buhari, had late last year, submitted 46 names of political Ambassadorial nominees to the Senate. The list was however, greeted with criticisms and outcry.
Imo State and the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, were omitted from the old list. Bowing to pressure, the Senate eventually rejected the list and sent it back to Buhari to correct the lapses.
