MINISTER of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Allison-Madueke, has said that the only solution to the problems in the petroleum industry, especially the scarcity of petroleum products, was the privatisation of refineries in the country.

She assured that the fuel scarcity that had rocked major cities in the country in the last two weeks would come to an end within the next one week.

57, 000 Nigerians Now Refugees – UN

Despite  the fact that Nigeria is not at war, Nigerians are now refugees in neighbouring countries as more than 57,000 people have fled to Cameroon, Chad and Niger Republic as a result of insurgency by Boko Haram, according to the United Nations.

The world body also disclosed that about half a million people have been internally displaced in the country which it described as a very alarming situation.

Scores of wounded terrorists, who escaped from various camps under the fire of security forces in north east Nigeria, have been captured in the fringes of Lake Chad.

In a statement, the spokesman for the Multi-National Joint Task Force (MJTF), Major General Chris Olukolade, said the captured terrorists, some of whom were fatally wounded, were already making useful statements to interrogators of the task force.
