UN Sanctions Boko Haram Leader, Shekau, Ansaru

►The UN Security Council has sanctioned B'Haram leader.
►Shekau and Ansaru banned from international travel.


The United Nations Security Council has sanctioned Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau, and a splinter group, Ansaru on Wednesday. 

According to Reuters, Shekau is the first individual while Ansaru is the first entity to be so sanctioned since the Islamist militant group was blacklisted.

National Confab Approve State Police

►Chat212 - Power FM - The National Conference on Thursday voted for the establishment of state police in the country.

The conference, which also called on President Goodluck Jonathan to stop pardoning corrupt leaders, however said only states that had the financial capacity to fund state police should create it.

Apart from this, the conference adopted the recommendation by the Committee on National Security, that state laws should be used as a guide for community policing.

While the victorious Ayodele Fayose slammed the vanquished incumbent, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, for pretence in his quick concession of victory, saying it was a publicity stunt, he also cautioned Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos not to further provoke Ekiti people with supposedly derogatory remarks.

Abuja Blast Survivors - Our Close Shave With Death

►As outrage from within and outside Nigeria continues to trail last Wednesday’s bomb blast in Abuja, which claimed 22 lives and left 50 others injured, some of the survivors have narrated their close shave with death.

►The Department of State Service, DSS, on its part disclosed that security agencies actually obtained intelligence reports two weeks ago that the terrorists planned to attack a busy shopping mall or market in Abuja. Major markets in the city were virtually deserted, yesterday, following the bomb blast.

15 men rape 16-yr-old girl in Rivers

POLICE have arrested members of a 15-man gang that allegedly raped a 16-year-old girl in Gbuga area of Ogbunabali, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
