Boko Haram: Additional 500 troops deployed to North East

The Federal Government, yesterday, confirmed that about 500 troops  had been deployed to the North East to contain insurgency in Adamawa, Yobe and Borno states.
Coordinator of National Information Centre, Mr. Mike Omeri, gave the confirmation while briefing newsmen in Abuja on the current security situation in the country.

It will be recalled that on September 6, Boko Haram claimed to have taken over Gulak, the headquarters of Madagali Local Government Area in Adamawa State and displaced scores of people.

29-yr-old jail breaker re-arrested for robbery

►A 29-year-old man, Fabian Oladele, who escaped from a prison during a jailbreak, has been re-arrested for robbery.

►The suspect was arrested on Wednesday, June 18, 2014. He specialised in robbery and diversion of trucks. He was arrested by the SP Abba Kyari-led Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS.

66, 000 apply for FG's 10000 housing units

Nigerians over subscribed for the 10,000 mortgages put on offer by the Federal Government, with 66,402 Nigerians expressing interests in the scheme.

Nigeria: Ebola - S-African Passenger Quarantined in Lagos

►A South African, suspected of showing symptoms of Ebola Virus Disease, EVD, as she arrived Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos yesterday, has been quarantined at the isolation ward in Lagos.

►The female passenger, Folswe Elizabeth Maria, on board Royal Air Maroc, from Morocco was on transit and was said to have taken ill at the transit area of the airport after using the toilet.

Lagos schools may not reopen Sept 22 - Fashola

Despite the Federal Government’s insistence   on September 22 resumption date for schools, indications emerged yesterday, that Lagos State Government might not respect the date.
