Budget 2015: Reps demand upward review of capital votes

Due to the disparity in provision for capital and recurrent expenditure in the 2015 budget, the House of Representatives has demanded an upward review of the Appropriation Bill for capital votes.

Gunmen kidnap Amaechi’s aide

Unknown gunmen struck again in Rivers State, kidnapping the one of the aides of the state Governor, Mr. Freddy Ndigbara.

My men’ll kill in self defence, Mbu insists

The Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 2, Lagos, Mr. Joseph Mbu, has said that there is no big deal in the number of people policemen under his command can kill in self-defence.

He said since policemen were also human beings, they should be ready to take revenge on any violent group(s) that might attack them or other innocent citizens.

7-year-old female suicide bomber kills 5, injures 19 in Potiskum

A seven-year-old girl, yesterday, killed herself and five others in a suicide bombing in Potiskum, Yobe State.

This came on day the Nigerian defence headquarters said the Nigerian troops fighting the insurgent group, Boko Haram, have reclaimed the town of Baga and other surrounding communities in Borno state after days of fierce fighting.

The suicide attack on a market in the city of Potiskum is the latest in a string of suicide strikes in which children have been used.
