PDP Loses Another Chieftain To APC
With less than twelve days to the country’s presidential election, the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has lost another chieftain to the major opposition party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Jonathan & Jega In Crucial Meeting
President Goodluck Jonathan has today been locked in a crucial meeting inside the Presidential Villa, Abuja, with Prof Attahiru Jega, the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, and heads of all security agencies.
Jega emerged from the Security Council meeting at about 2.20pm after briefing the members on his commission’s preparation for the elections.
He was accompanied by two top officials who attended the meeting with him.

Nigeria military retakes towns from Boko Haram in Yobe, Borno
Nigeria's military said it had cleared Boko Haram from the northeastern state of Yobe on Monday, while also claiming victory over the militants in the strategic town of Bama in neighbouring Borno state.
"We announced the reclaiming of (the town of) Goniri today," defence spokesman Chris Olukolade said on his Twitter account @GENOlukolade. "That was the last stronghold of terrorists in Yobe... #YobeIsFree."
Olukolade added in a later tweet that Nigerian troops had also ousted the insurgents from Bama, some 70 kilometres (45 miles) from the Borno state capital of Maiduguri.
