Obama, ECOWAS seek peaceful polls in Nigeria
United States President Barack Obama and the the Economic Community of West African States have stressed that only fair and transparent elections will guarantee a true democratic process in Nigeria.

Obama made his comment via a video posted on Monday on the White House official website while the ECOWAS Chairman and Ghananian President, John Mahama, spoke in Abuja.
Court bars soldiers from polling stations
A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos, yesterday, restrained the Federal Government from deploying soldiers for the general elections beginning on Saturday with Presidential and National Assembly polls.

The court held that there was no part of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) which empowers the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and Commander-in Chief of the Armed Forces to deploy military for election purposes.soldiers

APC accuses Jonathan of spending N1trn on campaigns
All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Organization, APCPCO, Monday, accused President Goodluck Jonathan of shifting N1 trillion from the public coffers to fund his campaigns of buying over traditional rulers and some major interest groups.

The APCPCO also said part of the money was also being used in funding what it described as the hate campaign launched against the presidential candidate of All Progressives Congress, APC, General Mohammadu Buhari.
