SHOCKING NEWS!! 43 Killed In Military Plane Crash

Not less than 43 people have been killed after an Indonesian military transport plane crashed shortly after take-off into a city on Sumatra island, exploding in a ball of flames at a residential area.
Reports say that the Hercules plane hit a hotel and houses in the northern Sumatra city of Medan on Tuesday.
“The latest information we have is that 30 have died…. The number could go up,” Hisar Turnip, a spokesman for Indonesia’s search and rescue agency, told Reuters.

Clark Condemns Obama For Awarding Jega

Elder statesman and former federal commissioner for information, Chief Edwin Clark, has condemned the President of the United States of America, Barack Obama, for presenting a “Certificate of Commendation” to Professor Attahiru Jega, the Chairman of  INEC.

Major power outage sweeps Washington, White House

A power outage swept the Washington area Tuesday, hitting the White House, the Capitol and the State Department and knocking out electricity for thousands around the US capital.
Outages stretched from downtown Washington into neighboring Maryland, knocking power out for more than 2,500 people, according to area power companies.

Most outages were brief, but computer systems were downtown offices and access to Metro trains were disrupted.

President Jonathan condemns killing of 147 in Kenyan university

Nigeria’s outgoing President Goodluck Jonathan condemned Thursday’s attack by Shebab Islamist group on a university in Kenya that left at least 70 students dead, describing it as “heinous” and “barbaric”.

A statement from Jonathan’s office said the president “utterly condemns the deliberate targeting of innocent persons, schools and other soft targets by terrorists.”

“Such atrocious, despicable and barbaric acts of violence ought to have no place in any civilised society,” it said.

Naira Rises Against Dollar

After the victory of the All Progressives Congress candidate General Muhammadu Buhari in the presidential poll, the naira has begun to stabilize.

It appreciated by 7% to 211 against the United States dollar on the parallel market.

Nigeria’s currency, which sold for 228 against the dollar before the poll, rose to 211 on Wednesday, Bureau de Change operators said.

Obama calls President-elect, Buhari

US President Barack Obama spoke to Nigerian President-elect Muhammadu Buhari and outgoing leader Goodluck Jonathan on Wednesday, praising both for their role in the country’s first democratic transfer of power.

Obama spoke to the men separately to “commend them for their leadership during Nigeria’s election,” the White House said.

Obama’s administration has lavished praise on Buhari and Jonathan following an election in Africa’s most populous country and its largest economy.

Nigeria election: Kano's Christian exodus

An exodus from the mainly Christian quarter of Kano, the commercial centre of northern Nigeria, is taking place ahead of elections this weekend, because of fears of violence.

The main bus station in the Sabon Gari suburb is chaotic as thousands of people cram onto coaches heading to the east or west of the country.

"Kano is now closing for business because of the fear of the unknown," says the chairman of the bus station.

Obama, ECOWAS seek peaceful polls in Nigeria
