Xenophobia: Jonathan, Zuma In Talks To Resolve Diplomatic Crisis

The incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan and his South African counterpart, President Jacob Zuma had a telephone conversation over the xenophobic attacks on Nigerians residing in South Africa.

According to a statement released on Thursday, April 30, by the South African presidency, both leaders restated the necessity for their countries to work together.

It was reported that Zuma spoke by telephone with Jonathan on the need not to let the recent attacks on some Nigerians and their businesses create a diplomatic crisis between the two countries.

FG demands corpses of executed Nigerians

The Federal Government has condemned the execution of four Nigerians by the Indonesian authorities over drug-related offences, despite pleas for clemency by President Goodluck Jonathan.
The government, while commiserating with the families of the deceased, demanded the repatriation of the corpses of the executed Nigerians.

It explained that they would be given decent burials by their various communities.

FG warns Buhari against running parallel govt

The Federal Government has warned the President-elect,   Muhammadu Buhari, against utterances and actions   capable of portraying him as running a parallel government at a time President Goodluck Jonathan is still fully in charge.
The Minister of National Planning,   Abubakar Sulaiman, disclosed this at the end of the weekly Federal Executive Council meeting in Abuja on Wednesday.

Rescued girls undergo pregnancy, HIV tests

The military authorities have taken the 293 women and girls rescued by the Special Forces during a raid on the dreaded Sambisa Forest   to the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, Maiduguri, Borno State.

An intelligence officer, who made this known to one of our correspondents on Wednesday, also said the women and girls were   undergoing a series of tests, including pregnancy and HIV in the hospital.

The officer also said that seven of the girls had gunshot injuries which were being treated by the medical officials of the UMTH.
