BREAKING: Court Orders DSS To ‘Immediately’ Grant Emefiele Access To Lawyers, Family

DSS may ignore the court order thesame way Emefiele ignored the court during his cashless policy .

The Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS) and the DSS has been ordered to immediately grant the suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, unrestricted access to his lawyers and family members as it is within his constitutional right.

Emefiele was arrested by the DSS on Saturday, hours after his suspension by President Bola Tinubu on Friday evening.

The order came from Justice Hamza Muazu of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court sitting at Maitama Abuja on Friday, following an application by J.B. Daudu SAN, counsel to Emefiele.

He informed the court that he had written letters to the DSS, particularly on June 14, for the purpose of taking further instruction from him, but the DSS has refused to respond to the application.

On the other hand, counsel to the second and third respondents, I. Awo, told the court that the DSS did not have the penchant for refusing such a request and that it was wrong to do so.

However, he expressed certainty that the security service would abide by the order of court and grant access to the listed lawyers and family members of Emefiele to see him, while counsel to the Office of the Attorney General of the Federation did not oppose the application.

In another development, counsel to the DSS, as well as the Office of the AGF, requested extension of time to file their respective responses to the originating motion, which was granted and the suit was further adjourned till Tuesday, June 19 for hearing of the substantive suit.

SHOCKING... Something New Is About To Happen’ – Pastor Adefarasin Speaks On Tinubu’s Administration

In the past 14 days, Nigeria has witnessed the most impactful reforms in the oil and gas sector, educational sector and power sector, introduced by President Tinubu. If he can do this in just 14 days, imagine what he will do in 4 years. So I agree that Something New will happen.

Senior Pastor of House on the Rock, Pastor Paul Adefarasin, has applauded President Bola Tinubu, for the suspension of the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele.

Naija News reports that the clergy spoke at the church’s recent programme in a video making the rounds online.

Recall that Emefiele was suspended as the apex bank boss by President Tinubu last week Friday, and was subsequently arrested by operatives of the DSS in Lagos and flown to Abuja in a private jet on Saturday.

Speaking on this, Adefarasin declared that the arrest is the greatest news in recent times, stressing that Emefiele has misguided and misused the wealth of the nation.

According to him, the latest development is a sign that something new is about to happen in Nigeria and urged Christians to be sensitive about the new thing which is about to happen.

INEC calls 18,000 blurred Labour Party IReV sheets an ambush

There's no way INEC and Tinubu will escape this  Breakdown of Results in INEC iREV Portal:
1. 840 results not accessible.

2. 8,217 results blurred and unreadable.

3. 527 results cancelled.

4. 164,279 uploaded a week after election.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has expressed its dissatisfaction with the submission of 18,000 blurred Incident Report (IReV) sheets by the Labour Party (LP), describing it as an ambush.

On Thursday, the Labour Party (LP) submitted 18,000 polling unit results that were blurred during the presidential election to the tribunal.

LP presidential candidate Peter Obi has challenged the election process that resulted in President Bola Tinubu's victory, as announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The defendants in the lawsuit include INEC, Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, and the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Reporting from the proceedings, it has been disclosed that Onyechi Ikpeazu, the legal representative for the petitioners, has submitted data analysis reports on the presidential election. These reports were presented through Eric Ofoedu, a professor of mathematics at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, who was also a witness for the LP.

Ikpeazu revealed that the documents included inquiries into IReV score sheets from Rivers and Benue states.

The petitioners have submitted 18,000 polling units with blurred results obtained from the IReV portal.

The admissibility of the documents was objected to by Abubakar Mahmoud, who serves as the lead counsel for INEC.

According to Mahmoud, the situation was akin to an ambush. He further stated that the LP had provided a copy of the witness' statement only a few hours prior to the start of the proceedings.

Admittedly, my team and I are facing a challenge and are unsure of the next steps to take. According to him, it is an ambush.

It was expected that the counsel would have presented the statement earlier, in accordance with the court's regulations and in the spirit of collaboration. The meal ought to have been delivered promptly to prevent this surprise attack

Mahmood has made a plea to the court, requesting that the LP be compelled to allow the INEC legal team a 48-hour period to review the documents that have been submitted.

Despite objections from Wole Olanipakun, the counsel for Tinubu and Shettima, they ultimately agreed to hear the witness's statement and suggested a later time for cross-examination.

Arise News TV journalist Lumnie Edevbie was summoned as a witness for the LP and was presented as evidence by Patrick Ikweato, a senior advocate of Nigeria (SAN) who is part of the party's legal team.

During the trial, a witness presented a video statement from Yakubu Mahmood, the chairman of INEC, which was recorded at Chatham House in London on January 17. In the video, Mahmood expressed confidence in the reliability and efficiency of the bimodal voter accreditation system (BVAS).

According to all respondents, they objected to the adoption of the statement of the witness and the viewing of the video.

The session was adjourned by the five-man panel, headed by Haruna Tsammani, until Thursday. This was done to allow for the cross-examination of the witness and further hearing of the petition.

The suspended EFCC Chairman, Abdulrasheed Bawa had a meeting with President Bola Tinubu today at the State House hours before his suspension.

A lot of explanations needs to be done.

There was so much misappropriation of funds in the last regime.

It’s not right that no arrest was made or questioning by the EFCC.

The former ( AG ) and others were granted bail.

Again, INEC, Tinubu Oppose IREV Reports From Rivers, Others But Tribunal Admits Them As Obi’s Evidence

Again, INEC, Tinubu Oppose IREV Reports From Rivers, Others But Tribunal Admits Them As Obi’s Evidence

The documents were tendered on Monday by the lawyer representing the presidential candidate of Labour Party, Peter Obi, Audu Anuga SAN, who urged the court to admit them as part of his client’s evidence.

The Presidential Election Petitions Court sitting in Abuja, on Monday, admitted in evidence certified true copies of INEC Results Viewing Portal (IReV) reports for Adamawa (21 LGAs), Ogun (20LGAs), Ekiti (16 LGAs), Rivers (19 LGAs) and Akwa Ibom states (25 LGAs).

He also tendered blurred results obtained from the IReV portal for Ogun State.

The application made by Obi’s legal team was unanimously opposed by the legal team of the Independent National Electoral Commission, President Bola Tinubu, Kashim Shettima and the All Progressives Congress, APC.

The respondents said they would advance their reasons for objecting to the documents at their final written address before the judgement.

The court led by Justice Haruna Tsammani noted the objections of the respondents but eventually admitted the documents as evidence while marking them as exhibits.

Another lawyer representing Obi, Afuba Peter SAN, equally tendered certified true copies of Form EC40GBU for Niger state (10 LGAs), Osun state ( 7 LGAs) ( Edo (3 LGAs), Sokoto states(5 LGAs) and asked the court to admit them.

The forms show the number of registered voters and polling units where elections were either cancelled or did not take place.

The respondents again opposed the tendering of the electoral documents but the PEPC still admitted them as Obi’s evidence.

The petitioners subsequently called for adjournment so as to file more documents.

The prayers were granted and the case was further adjourned to Tuesday.

THE WHISTLER reports that the flagbearer of the Labour Party, Obi, has so far presented a lawyer (who spoke on a US District Court judgement on Tinubu’s bank account), Senior Reporter/Editor, Lucky Ukpewo from Channels Television as well as a software engineer to substantiate alleged non-ompliance to the Electoral Act during the elections by INEC.

He is disputing the polls in over 18,000 polling units.
