A group, De Servant yesterday called on the leaders of the All Progressive Congress (APC) and other political parties to support the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan, stop the rising criticism saying Jonathan is God sent.

►Boko Haram’s declaration of a caliphate in Nigeria may have been prompted by the attention heaped on Islamic State (IS) militants in Iraq, experts said, but the pronouncement may have deeper roots.

►The Nigerian group announced in a video obtained by AFP on Sunday that the captured town of Gwoza in northeastern Borno state was under an Islamic caliphate, drawing comparisons with a similar declaration by IS in June.

Katsina State Govt. disburses N100m to victims of gunmen

►The Katsina State Government has begun disbursement of N100 million to victims of gunmen attack in Sabuwa and Faskari Local Government Areas of the state.

►Unidentified gunmen raided several communities in the two areas, killed 117 persons and injured 37 while 708 were displaced between March 11 and March 12.

Yemeni military plane crashes on landing, killing pilot

A military training jet crashed in south Yemen on Wednesday, killing its pilot, an army officer told AFP.

The accident took place as the Czech-made L-39 aircraft was landing at an airbase in Taez, 180 kilometres (112 miles) south of the capital, the officer said.
