Impeachment Plot: Presidency pleads with senators

FOLLOWING reports that the impeachment notice against President Goodluck Jonathan will be presented on the floor of the Senate when it resumes from the recess on December 16, the Presidency yesterday pleaded with the Senate that the interest of the country and the protection of the nation’s democracy should be paramount.

Reacting to the purported impeachment moves by the lawmakers, the Presidency noted that the country was at the moment facing some challenges and impeachment will not be required to address the mirage of  problems adding that political problems would require political solutions

APC Accuses Fayose Of Complicity In Ado Ekiti Jail Break

►The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ekiti State has accused Governor Ayodele Fayose of complicity in the Monday jail break in Ado-Ekiti following conflicting reports by the governor and his media aide, Lere Olayinka.

►The party said while the governor blamed the prison officials for complicity, Olayinka accused APC of masterminding the crime to free Niyi Adedipe, who was in prison custody over alleged complicity in the murder of drivers’ union boss, Omolafe Aderiye.

Falling oil prices: No more business as usual, Alison-Madueke warns

Alarmed by the fall inglobal oil prices, Petroleum Minister and President, Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries, OPEC, Mrs Diezani Alison-Madueke, has said that Nigeria needs to adopt a more strategic approach to sustaining the oil industry.

►The oil minister, who addressed State House correspondents for the first time since her election as OPEC President last week, said the change of direction was necessary to enable Nigeria stay competitive in the dwindling international crude oil market.
