Police arrest suspected kidnapper, free victim in Ogun

Ogun State Police Command has arrested a member of kidnap gang that abducted one Mrs Abosede Adenuga from Lagos State, Monday.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, who disclosed this in Abeokuta yesterday, explained that SARS operatives made the arrest and rescued the victim.

INEC, Gana differ on use of card readers

A former Minister of Information, Professor Jerry Gana and the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, sharply disagreed, yesterday, on the desirability of using the Smart Card Reader machines for the purpose of authenticating voters eligible to participate in the forthcoming general elections.
Gana, who is the Chairman Contact and Mobilisation of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and the commission clashed at the formal presentation of a book, “Guide to Understanding Electoral Offences,” which was written by a staff of INEC, Mr. Matthew Ugwuocha.iNEC-CARD

Buhari: I will respect press freedom, uphold constitution

The Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, General Muhammadu Buhari assured, yesterday, that he will respect media freedom and uphold the constitution if elected president.
He also promised that the general elections would hold without bloodshed.

Buhari made the promises during an interactive meeting with media proprietors under the umbrella of Nigeria Proprietors Association of Nigeria, NPAN, and representatives of private and public broadcast media in Nigeria in Abuja.

NNPC didn’t get N1.329trn subsidy money from CBN, says Alison-Madueke

The Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs Diezani Alison-Madueke, has denied that Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, received N1.329 trillion as subsidy payments between 2009-2011 from the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, as alleged by the ad-hoc committee of the House of Representatives on Subsidy Regime.

No sight of Chibok girls in liberated areas – COAS

Hope dimmed, yesterday, on the rescue of abducted Chibok girls from Boko Haram terrorists as the Chief of Army Staff, General Kenneth Minimah, declared that despite the liberation of some towns and villages in Borno, Adamawa and Yobe States, the troops have not been able to establish the whereabouts of the schoolgirls.
