Meeting with the President

I met with the DSS on Sunday at about 3pm and I drove there on my own.

Oshiomhole, however, did not expressly confirm or deny if he met with the President on the DSS matter, when questioned on the subject.

He continued: "On my meeting with the President, the President is the President of Nigeria and he is elected on the platform of our party, which I am privileged currently to be the Chairman of. I visit the villa at least two to three times a week. I have a duty to brief Mr. President on what were doing in the party. I have the privilege of learning from the President what the government is doing as it relates to what the party expects of the government elected on our platform.

"Meeting the President is not news at all. Those are my privileges and I think it will continue to be so as long as Mr. President is gracious enough to give me the privilege to want to know what we're doing in the party, and also to hear my own suggestions on a variety of issues as it affects governance, our party and the country.

Nothing can stop the zeal of Nigerians to elect the president of their choice.

He said Nigerians had a better alternative by sticking to President Muhammadu Buhari who he claimed had done so much to ensure better future for them.

But Atiku’s spokesman, Paul Ibe, dismissed Nabena’s claims.

Ibe said the forthcoming election would not be about money but the supreme will of Nigerians.

He said, “Nothing can stop an idea whose time has come. Nothing can stop the zeal of Nigerians to elect the president of their choice.

“This election will not be won by money or lies or propaganda or intimidation but by the supreme will of the Nigerian people as expressed in their votes.

“Atiku Abubakar will be elected as president by Nigerians in February 2019 notwithstanding the machinations of the APC-led administration.”

Why Buhari told Diaspora Nigerians not to vote in 2019 elections.

On the participation of Nigerians in diaspora in the forthcoming elections, the President said the population of citizens in various countries across the world already necessitate their inclusion to elect leaders, noting that it might not happen in the 2019 elections as the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, had been more focused on strengthening and consolidating on its achievements of conducting credible elections within the country. Stressing that it could happen in future, he added that the Nigerian constitution had taken into cognizance the need for representation in the political structures in order to ensure harmony and development, urging more people to pick interest in governance and quality representation.

President Buhari in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Chief Femi Adesina, assured Nigerians that allocations to the educational sector will be improved as revenue increases, describing the sector as a major engine for the development of any country. According to him, “We are currently reviewing investments in the entire infrastructure of the country like road, rail and power, including investing more in education. President's Advice to Nigerian elites, both at home and in the diaspora.

President Buhari enjoined Nigerian elites, both at home and in the diaspora, to do more in contributing to the educational sector of the country, expressing surprise that the elites tolerated the fall in standards and structures of educational institutions despite oil windfalls.
