The Edo State Independent Electoral Commission (EDSIEC) has fixed Tuesday October 22, 2013 for the cancelled election in Esan North East Local Government Area and some wards in other parts of the state.
Addressing journalists in Benin City, the Edo State Independent Electoral Commission (EDSIEC) Chairman, Solomon Ogor said the exercise will hold in all the 11 Wards of Esan North East, Ward 6 in Etsako Central, Wards 3 and 4 in Etsako West, Ward 8 in Uhunmwonde and Wards 9 and 11, in Ovia North East Local Government Areas.
Ogoh explained that the delay was as a result of the commission’s desire to conduct credible elections.
He however assured residents that the poll will be peaceful.
It will be recalled that EDSIEC had cancelled two different polls earlier held in Esan North East council on 20th and 25th April, 2013 due to what the commission described as irregularities.
Four parties, APC, PDP, Labour Party and Accord Party have been cleared to take part in the council poll.
