Chat 212 - Newsmail Report...
The United States' army is working to develop smart armor, which would give soldiers "superhuman strength". The army has called upon the technology industry, government labs, as well as academia to help them build the armored suit.

According to BBC, there are already other exoskeletons that have been tested by the army, and they allow troops to do tasks such as carry large loads much further.
The Tactical Assault Light Operator Suit will have such a frame, but it will feature layers of smart materials that are fitted with sensors. It will also need to have a wearable computer that is kind of the same as Google Glass.

According to The Verge, the suit would provide soldiers with enhanced situational awareness, and the suit may use what is known as liquid armor, which is able to transform from a liquid to solid in milliseconds. This happens when a magnetic field or electrical current is applied. The goal of the armor suit is to provide users with full-body ballistic protection, which would allow wearers to walk right through bullets.

According to CNET, the suit would also feature sensors that keep track of the wearer's oxygen levels, and provide air conditioning.
Special forces are hoping that a prototype will be ready within a year and then a more advanced one within three years.
