The Ogun State police Command has confirmed the arrest of some 40 members of a splinter group in the All Progressives Congress (APC) after a fracas which occurred at the secretariat of the defunct Congress for Progressives Change (CPC) in Abeokuta, the state capital.
The fracas, at the state secretariat of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) one of the parties that merged to form the APC was alleged to have been masterminded by suspended state CPC Chairman, Kunle Mudashiru, former Acting state Public Relations Officer, Shina Oduntan and one of the elders of the party, Chief Adekola.
The Ogun state chapter of the CPC had on June 6th, 2013 suspended Mudashiru on the allegation of financial mismanagement and maladministration, while Oduntan was suspended on the ground that he led a group of thugs to disrupt the session of the state meeting.
The quick intervention of men of the Ogun state command of Nigeria Police Force restored normalcy to the area.
Speaking on the incident, the Command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Muyiwa Adejobi confirmed the incident and stated that two members of the warring factions were already assisting the police in their investigations.
