Former Minister of State, Foreign Affairs, Tijjani Yahaya Kaura, and 2,752 other members of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have defected to the All Progressive Congress (APC) at the weekend.
Announcing his defection at Kaura-Namoda town, Kaura, who is from Zamfara State, said he took the decision due to Governor Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar style of leadership.
He stressed that the governor had performed very well in terms of infrastructural development in less than three years in office.
Kaura said it became necessary for him to join the train of heroes in APC, whose obvious intention is to transform the nation and save it from economic disaster and insecurity.
He contended that, “Zamfara, as crawling state, is of course in need of leaders like Governor Yari, whose dream was to convert the state into economically developed one, through physical battle with corruption and indeed, directing the sources towards building the state as constitutionally required”.
In his address, Yari indicated that PDP has reached the end of the road in the state having lost a highly respected politician like Kaura, who remained the only nerve that gives life to the party, adding that his defection has consolidated the hope of APC in the 2015 general elections in the state.
The governor, who directed all members of APC across the state to consider Kaura’s defection as a great victory, assured the people of more dividends of democracy before the end of the year 2014, as contained in his blueprint for the state.
