40 feared dead as Unknown Gunmen attack Dansadau village in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State, North West Nigeria.
An eyewitness told Channels Television that the victims were holding security meeting involving vigilante teams and other stakeholders on how to secure their villages at about 6pm on Saturday evening when suddenly the gunmen on motorbikes stormed the security meeting and opened fire on them, killing not less than 40 people.
Others also sustained various degrees of injuries while some took to their heels escaping into nearby bushes.
The gunmen were said to have been carrying out killings in Zamfara, Katsina and Kaduna states in recent times.
Governor Abdulaziz Yari of Zamfara State has visited the village, where he condemned the attack.
